    Camps -2013

I have a U13 looking to go to a residential camp with a competitive environment. Where is everybody going this summer? He has 4 or 5 teammates going to Vogelsinger. Any other ideas?

Find a camp that has college coaches.

He's a U13. He is TWELVE years old...really?...a college coaches?! Find a camp that is FUN!, has great coaches, lots of soccer and OTHER activities (beach, pool, etc....maybe a field trip)
Assume overnight, i.e. residential, usually a four night camp. Look at PTUSA (Paul Turner's camp on the cape), had players go there several years, best for about U10 to U14 imo, MPS, if I dare mention them have some very good camps, and, for younger players, Holy Cross College has day and overnight, Vogelsinger has always had a good reputation. There are many more "club" camps, but I would be cautious about these especially after U11 or U12. Residentail soccer camps, again, in my experience, can take a player far past the level they were at when they started, and can make several times the impact an entire spring or fall club season can make for a player's progress. Good Luck, I will post again when I think of a few more.

Although MPS as a club is debatable, their camps are great.

Anyone have any experience with vogelesinger camps. I'd appreciate any input. I'm looking for a residential camp form my daughter that will be challenging and not simply an extension of her club team.

I don't think you're alone in that view...but it sort of doesn't make any sense to me.

John Smith is a very good camp with overnight and day options. Id reccomend overnight though

Are there different coaches or the same that coach with the club? Club is second rate at best.

It is because during the year, the coaches have to work in the office all day and then coach in the evening. There is 1 car for 3 or 4 coaches. That coach has to pick everyone up and drop them off at the end of the night. Being given the car is a curse for the MPS coach. He has to drive 3 or 4 mates home so he/she doesn't get home until after 11 pm.

On top of the 8 am to 11 pm M - F work. They have to coach on the weekends. Their work week is at least 100 hours during the Fall/Spring.

In the summer, they often do not have to go to the office so it is just being outside playing soccer which is what they love.

My son attended the Serie A Soccer camp last year, they are doing again this year and they added a second Italian professional coach. It was an excellent camp, going through the fundamentals and individual coaching, using different techniques and drills that you don't see typically done around here. I am going to sign up my son again this year, I believe they do it at the end of June in Lexington, MA.
