I understand where you are coming from, but you also have to understand how frustrating that can be for other teams to register and that either can't do that due to lack of numbers or won't due to integrity. Yesterday I watched an 02 girls team that I know pretty well play with only 2 fit subs. One girl serving a red card suspension from a tournament over a month ago. A few injured girls were not there at all. One of the original 3 fit subs got hurt early in the first half. In the second half she went back in, but she was limping. With 10 minutes left one girl hurt her knee and the team played a man down for the rest of the game. Why did they not pull in girls? I don't know for sure, but my guess is that while it is a big club registration most, if not all, of the kids were already playing. Since there are different substitution rules the coach did not want to risk putting in a player he did not know well enough to trust, but also is too good of a guy and coach to have called a player to come help and then left them on the bench the whole time to be used as an "emergency" player registration. He would have felt that was unfair.

Unfair? We talking about registration! So tell me about what being loyal to a club has done for you. How'd that work out? You should have been trying out at as many clubs as possible then you could choose the offer to take vs beg to be on a team when the offer didn't come. Eat your turkey that day and stfu!

Sky Blue parents need to wake up. If they thought your kid had a shot at being recruited they’d be at NEFC.

Um, for the most part, people are fairly intuitive. People who are in turkey day are especially sensitive, and ready to pick up on anything. That includes any type of feedback you’re providing. If you are going to be dishonest when dealing with someone in crisis, (for instance, you tell them you’re going to do something when you know that you’re not) you need to realize that doing so, is something that can get you into trouble. Are you going to get caught in it? Most likely. Because they know you’re bluffing and you are under the microscope at that moment due to their family ties.

The point about the crazy soccer parents ruining Thanksgiving for all is spot on! Every parent wants feedback about their child. If they claim they don’t well they’re lying. The culture surrounding the parent coach relationship is one in which parents are afraid to solicit feedback, and ask questions about their child for fear of being that crazy parent. And quit frankly coaches perpetuate this by not making themselves available, not returning emails and having a holier than thou persona. Most parents just want to know 1) how their child is doing compared to the others and 2) what the child can do to improve. That’s how you get better. Like, if you don’t know something, tell them, “I may have to ask somebody else to get you that answer, sir.” If you make a mistake, quickly admit it. Maybe you said something you shouldn’t have or promised something you couldn’t get to, whatever it is, be honest with them and admit it.
