2024 EMass Boys High School Soccer

First time I've been able to post since the end of last high school soccer season in 2023. For some reason, wasn't able to log in or post. Strange.

Anyone know what was going on?

DCL looks like they have the advantage over Bay State so far this year. We'll see in the tournament.

Teams in Power Rankings that are probably too low.

        18 Lexington 10-2-3
        25. Belmont 9-3-3
        36. Winchester 7-2-3
        38. Franklin 7-3-1

Teams in Power Rankings that are too high.

        12. BC High 3-5-4
        29. Waltham 2-6-2

Amherst Pelham Reg Div 2 hasn't won a game, yet is ranked 21st and is on pace for making the playoffs. Top 32. Strength of schedule is too dominant and needs to be scaled back.

Lowell is perfect 14-0-0 and the Merrimack is stronger than in years past, but still have my doubts that they can hang with the Needham's and St. John's Prep.

4 teams Winchester, Arlington, Lexington and Belmont getting screwed in the power rankings.

Other than Weymouth, rest of the Bay State, all over the place this season. Weymouth at the top, Walpole at the bottom. After that anybody can beat anybody. Milton has been pretty competitive.

Newton South having a nice season.

Revere is tough to get a read on. Undefeated and demolished Somerville twice. But they never perform in the tournament. I don't see this year being any different. GBL has been bad for several years now.

Would like to see Norwell move up to D-2.

How to get into the top 10 in power rankings …

play in the Bay State or DCL, that’s it, that’s all that matters

Nathan Askjaer, Cohasset (no rating?) — anyone know if this goal-scorer F (he got a hat-trick) a few days ago, is a Div.1 prospect?

Cohasset isn't that great this year. They lost to Wayland and Dearborn Stem whatever school that is. They did lose to Norwell and Weymouth by a goal, but don't have any impressive wins on their resume.

Framingham 4 Needham 0 Another one of those strange Bay State results.

St. John's Prep over St. John's of Shrewbury 2-1.

Where does he play club? No one recruits from public high schools

Waltham deserves to be ranked higher, not lower. they were beating CC by a goal until the last 45 seconds of that game. not a waltham dad...

Concord-Carlisle might not be as strong as they were last year. Waltham has a lot of close losses and scores are taken into consideration for the power rankings. Maybe you have a point though.

Needham has fallen off a steep cliff, as of late. Wonder if they are dealing with some injuries?

While they have one injured senior, it is a case of just not having the individual talent they have had over the last several years. In addition -- or a reflection of that -- a) they are starting (and playing) an unusually high number of underclassmen, and b) they are considerably "smaller" than they have been, and relative to other teams.
