You are insufferable. You continue to dominate this message board with misinformation, insults, and ignorance. If you had any balls, you’d identify yourself .

Nope, let’s stay anonymous. Also, more people of color should be posting in these forums. You people all sound very white.

That's because most people in this country are white.

The comment might not be awful, but I think the way your GA is being handled by the coach and the way your son is reacting to the situation is concerning.

It sounds to me like your son is more concerned with fitting in and following the pack, to the point of his own detriment (that was the case with my GA). He’s talented, but has been an afterthought for this coach for way too long, if he has been his coach from u6-HS. That’s plenty of time for a coach to develop and teach him to address his weaknesses, such as being more aggressive etc (in my experience, coaches who emphasize/focus on aggressiveness are typically poor coaches, but that’s another discussion).

Personally, I’d pull him out of that situation. It’s hard to do and change will be hard for him, but he’ll be a stronger man in the long run if he goes elsewhere, establishes himself and realizes that he’s not a doormat.

ID clinics are exceptional with track speed and quickness. Just remember that building speed is not an overnight process. Most kids dont even now how to run properly so that has to be taught even before they can build strength and quickness. The biomechanics of sprinting is an art. There a tons of other trainers in the area but these are the ones we used. If you are a YouTube type person then I would look at Pete’s Elite Performance and also Bone Dry Athletes.

Interesting that you call out getting on an ECNL team + specifically call out not playing on a GA team.

That's kind of a wide statement. If you're kid plays on one of the top GA teams it's light years better than an average ECNL team.

It's also interesting that you say that your kid isn't specifically skilled but that she is aggressive, big, and fast. Do you think with college rosters going down to 28 that coaches will have to move to more skilled play? Or will they just keep focusing on the infinite subs game?

ROFL about GA. If you regularly look at the schools that they go to in this area, GA girls regularly go to better and more competitive schools than ECNL kids. Most ecnl kids. I see broadcast on social media from local clubs or at D3 schools. Happy your kid got in with what she's good at. It does make me a little sad that you continually said your kid is physical over technical skills. That definitely goes much farther in the US. It's just sad that we live in a country where being an actual good technical soccer player with real skills with the ball is not as important as being able to knock other kids around.

So, I go deep. My "children" are the many youth referees that I mentor year after year. My greatest frustration is that the "responsible adults" at the match (coaches, managers, Club officers) are not more proactive in dealing with those who disrupt and distract. Just like the players, Youth Referees are developing their skills. Mistakes will be made. And just like the players, screaming and berating is not only completely unacceptable, it is also counterproductive. And just like the players, if we give them some space and peace, they can do amazing things. Why do we sit there and allow a few to spoil the experience for all the rest? Hell no?

As a parent of three boys playing at the MLS Next and ECNL levels, my greatest goal with their youth soccer experience is to be supportive. My hope for them is that they have fun, make friends, learn to be a good teammate/person, and develop life lessons beyond the sport. My focus is to stay in the moment and enjoy the ups and downs of the journey.

Previously, when we were new in soccer we had no idea about the many “tracks” of soccer. We learned from other parents. We went fumbling from rec to academy, now ECNL and ODP. We have twin boys both at this level. But, now we find ourselves with a son about to turn 14 who is at a very high level for his age. Several coaches at many levels have told us how good he is.... basically GA level....but we do not have a recourse or anywhere to go to get information about this course. Not knowing enough about the pros and cons if this course of action it’s very difficult to even get unbiased direction.
