Nothing more aggravating them someone coming on and telling us what they could've one. They didn't. How or why they didn't has various reasons, and it's irrelevant. Either do, or don't. Then, move forward.
One thing more aggravating that that is saying your kid didn't want the grind and chose the D3 path and then having all these haters say oh your kid must have sucked and went D3 because they weren't good enough to play D1.

Lesson: don’t post about your kid in this forum. Problem solved.

Agree. Post about other kids and you'll be fine.

My D wanted to win, she played on enough crappy teams in her life. That meant the real possibility of playing less, but playing for more. Some years, it worked out; others, it didn't. But she loved what playing and where she was playing allowed her to do. She was not willing to sacrifice her education to do it, however. And, she was not willing to take on debt to do it, either.

Club soccer has nothing to do with education.
Spot on! I agree my daughter went a similar path in which she wouldn’t “dummy down” her education to play soccer first and foremost for a competitive college program that had weak academics in her intended major. There are so many paths you can take and it is highly individualistic to every student-athlete. For my daughter it wasn’t about picking a soccer program for playing time but wanted to be at a program that plays to win and had great academics. She was not thinking short term about the next four years but rather the 40 years that follows.

Literally nobody cares what reasons you have for where your kid is playing. It comes across like you are trying to convince yourself it was the right move.

Move on, we really don't care about it.

If nobody cares, why does it get talked about so much here?

Because parents need to justify their decisions so they take every opportunity to shift the conversation toward why they make decisions. I agree, it's incredibly odd. Yet, here we are...

looks to me there are two types of people constantly trying to justify their kids collegiate decisions - BC mom who is vocal they chose the school because of who they play; and D3 moms who are vocal they chose a school because they wanted to enjoy college (I think that's the most common reason I've lost track)

But what about those frequent instances where someone asks about other peoples' experiences? Should we just ignore those questions?

So perhaps you are wrong and people do care?

Sure. When/where does that really happen though? Poster shows the D1 RPI, replies come in about how bad low-level D1 teams are and they should just play D3. That kicks off a firestorm, as usual.

Perhaps, no. Why would anyone care about what justification others have for making a decision?

On the off-chance someone asks for the difference in play and commitment to a D1 vs 2 vs 3, it's a worthy discussion. When someone lists the RPI for D1 schools and others just bring the D3 quality into the discussion, it's weird. I personally don't care where anyone plays (I played D3 myself), but telling others' the reason why is just trying to convince yourself, not the rest of us.

I have to agree with D3 By Choice mom.
These girls are prioritizing soccer while sacrificing academics

This is an open forum where anonymous people want to express their views. Some will agree and some like yourself want to limit free speech. People have a good reason to discuss decisions made that may help others in a similar situation. There are a lot of angry, pissed off and disappointed posters whose kid is chose D1 and are not living up to the expectations of these posters. They feel better about themselves by diminishing those who chose a different path. The reason why someone chose a path might strike a cord with someone who reads the post, that’s all! That’s not bragging. The problem is the overwhelming majority of these posters/parents is that they never had any interest in soccer till their kid started playing. They have no idea about the differences in D1,D2,D3, JUCO, etc. they are just spewing their uneducated opinion that has no basis of fact!

Agree with the content of your post but we disagree about those who mention why they chose something other than D1. There are those reading this forum who are now looking at colleges for their daughters and want to hear the experiences of those that kids actually play in another division other than D1. Why do people have any issue when people give their reasons why a specific college in any division was the choice for their daughter. That’s not bragging but giving their reasons to help others make their decisions. These people have already made a choice and are not trying to convince anyone about what college to choose but rather they are giving their experience. That’s not bragging and if you think so then your the one with self doubt for choices you made.
