NEFC GA scheduling Q

We are new to NEFC GA and have a question about scheduling for the year, and don't want to bother the coach with our Type A / trying to plan ahead brains! Juggling multiple kids/etc. :)

(1) Should we be planning on these events being played? That is, can we look at this list and assume we'll be headed to the ones within our age group? (Like U14 will be in FL in November, Norco in December, FL in March, Norco in June, and poss nationals later?)

Answer to 1) is a little different for "GA Red" vs. "GA Navy" because of Champions' Cup.

"GA Red" often skipped the East Regional event in November because they were traveling to CA for Champions Cup in December. I think NEFC would also often send DPL instead of GA teams to the U15-U19 Spring Showcase in April, especially when the GA team for that age group qualified for the Champions Cup Finals in March.

"GA Navy" won't have Champions Cup this year (since it's based on the previous year's results), so their scheduling may look different.

The qualification rules for the playoffs in June are not really written down anywhere. In past years some age groups (U13, U19) only have 16 teams in the playoffs and no separate finals; other age groups have up to 32 teams that qualify. NEFC GA did qualify for the playoffs in every age group last year, but it was down to the wire for a few teams.

When do they have to decide on roster placement? How many might you think try to move to Stars/Scorps ECRL?

I think we can safely say that there are too many ECNL/GA teams in this state now. You have:

2 Stars teams
1 SSS team
2 NEFC GA teams
1 Scorpions team

If you wanted to, you could add as they are close to the state boarders:

1 Bayside GA team
1 RI Surf GA team
1 Seacoast GA team

Just focusing on the top Massachusetts level (Stars, SSS, NEFC, Scorps), you are going to tell me that we have at a minimum 120 kids each age group that play at what the league markets as a top level? Don't even start with ECRL/DPL

It does feel oversaturated. But GA is on the demise and is clearly second tier.

Ask your team manager. Plenty of parents will be having these questions. The team manager can talk to the coach and spread the word without it being you having to be THE bothersome parents.

Game schedule is probably in the works now or soon, but there's a period to do rescheduling for conflicts, sort out field schedules, and so on. Usually the clubs (and league) don't like to release it until it's fairly close to set. Again you can ask your manager or coach and they may have some early news.

For GA Red (as you mentioned in a later post) you can probably plan to play Champions' Cup (two events) instead of the regional showcases and the GA playoffs.
