If your d is looking to go to college simply to play soccer and not so much to learn then yes, playoffs don't matter.

Again, same coaches go to the other showcases. No, not the Stars Cup or some other localized showcase, but they are guaranteed to be at those. Pretty good chance they will be at a Playoff as well.
