Friend of mine fell for this scam and told me the U17s and U19s aren’t included in any showcase events. Why would anyone pay for this if the only marginal benefit is alleged exposure?

at some level they are doing them a favor by saving them money on the cost of showcases and travel tournaments. the few that are still thinking about college soccer should go to school-specific ID clinics.
there are actually kids that age who just want to play soccer (even as a senior in HS with no plans to play in college), and stay in shape between seasons.
but yes, ECRL2 is a ridiculous idea. players could get that with a lot less travel for league games if the leagues and clubs stopped making their profits the #1 priority.

My friends kid is U17, 2026. They were told they were going to FL and now they’re not. That’s a miss for that age group. He said no U19 either but not sure on that.

Perfect example of the Trapped player problem
Being trapped is not the cause of an ECRL2 (5th team) player’s recruiting woes

Coach is probably going to FL for xmas[
is it all the ECRL teams or just the u17 and u19 run out of NH? Might be a coach or club decision or not enough parents committed.

The U17 and U19 are two different teams with different coaches. Neither is going apparently. Pretty bad for how much these families are paying to not give them access to any ECRL showcases. Whether you think ECRL2 is a joke or not, it’s messed up to take their money and not give them the full product. Hopefully no one can argue with that, even the biggest Stars defenders. I’m a Stars parent and it does not sit well.

Thats a shame b because the ECRL showcases are big and a lot of college coaches attend. Its probably the second best showcase for talent at that age. you've been scammed or the coaches said to the club yeah I ain't travelling. cant go if coaches don't want to go

As usual, most TS people speaking without knowing anything. Has anyone watched the SB Stars teams? There’s some very good players on those teams. The top players on those teams should absolutely be on higher teams. I say this as a person who has watched them. My kid at SSS.
Not sure why Stars keeps these players on SB. My guess is that it helps the bottom line. Regardless, my guess is the parents of the players are just trying to aid their kids. They’re not delusional. Just hoping their kid gets noticed or becomes that late bloomer who rises.
