My HS age ECRL player no longer wants to continue with soccer. Am I on the hook for the full amount with Stars? I can’t see the terms online. Yes I’ll talk to them but I want to know what the terms are before I have the conversation.

You won’t get money back you’ve paid ie deposit and first couple months payment but they can and will fill the spot in a heartbeat and shouldn’t hold you to the rest of your contract.

And to further prove my point- if you’re having to pull up from lower level teams, how strong are these ECRL teams? Stars has a total of two 2025 ECRL players committed. Those two players are probably the top of the teams and could play on ECNL if there was room for them.

to answer the OPs question directly: you signed the contract and they are fully within their rights to chase you for payment for the entire contract value. That said this is a situation that comes up all the time and if you have a good relationship with the club then it's common for you to get back some or all of your money without resorting to stop payments etc.
To respond to the typical TS trolls: everyone's situation is different. Players who play multiple sports but decide to focus on soccer in HS exist. If these players are the better ones who stuck with NECSL level teams so they could play other sports at the same time then they will try to get up the pyramid to finish out their HS careers. If they decide to keep playing after HS then unless they are some kind of phenom chances are their best bet is an ECRL/DPL type team that will at least get them in front of more coaches' eyes. They won't be P4 coaches but these players don't have any chance of going P4 so who cares. I would expect to see more 2025 ECRL commitments announced in the coming months but they'll be to schools that TS trolls will laugh about and dismiss.....but the kids and their parents will be (and should be) proud and will hopefully have a lot of fun playing the beautiful game for another 4yrs

Actually the Stars ENRL teams do a great job placing players on D3 especially NESCAC teams. Many kids playing club soccer want to go to the best school where they can play soccer not the best soccer school. Once we realized our player wanted a great college experience that included soccer not just a soccer experience we were thrilled with our regional team.
