Well, ya’ll are mean, but it beats the AI bot. Depending on the date, RAE will be reduced for kids born from Jan-July and increased for those from August-December. About 6 months of growth and maturity is better than some shiny shoe of course. This isn't just some January vs December kid thing. January goes from front of line to middle of line, not the back. And December goes from back of line to middle of the line not the front. Sure, might take say 2 years for the age change to show impact at the oldest age group so Jan 2009 kid essentially dodged this as they could be in the oldest age group when implemented.

So would ECNL allow shuffling of players within a club as early as this spring? Rather than have the trapped player system in effect for the spring?

Also, I really hope that ECNL clubs don’t just look at their ECNL players but also their ECNL RL players. Some of them may be in RL just because of the RAE but more competitive at the NL level essentially playing “down” from what age group they’re currently at.

Can you hear that kids who are serious about getting recruited get on the front foot and reach out to the colleges, coaches they wish to attend.

They aren't just going to tournaments with hundreds of other players and hope for the slim odds they will be discovered.

When they started at u8, she was of course smaller, a year behind from rec, put on b team. Worked hard, moved to a team. Eventually grew enough to catch up in size to the older ones too. But even though she says the older girls are all nice to her, she says they aren't nice to the b team girls, who are still her friends. She has been holding a grudge over it for years. She also thinks the older girls are lazy and just there because they were huge and fast back in third grade.

Will they be rolling GA clubs into ECNL? Doesn’t make sense to run two organizations for a $$$$$$$ point of view? .

The narrative of "middle pack kids will always be middle pack kids no matter the team" is just nonsense. Just wait until that parent's April birthday kid goes from being one of the older ones to the one of the younger ones ... they'll be the first to google RAE and start using it as their defense for why their kid is no longer a top player. Everyone also needs to stop calling it "playing down". If the new timeframe is SY, that's simply the new normal - it's not "playing down". In fact, if you're gonna start calling Q4 kid as "playing down" then aren't you admitting that your Q1 BY kid in 8th grade right now is essentially "playing down" against younger same-BY kids in 7th grade? How is that not "playing down"?
2010 ECNL Q4 player here. The difference between 2010 and 2011 ECNL is huge. It will be 8:0 when there is a scrimmage. All the remaining Q3/Q4 NL and RL players will move to 2011 NL teams. There is no question about it. And all of them will take starting positions. It is a harsh reality and you will realize it when the season resumes.

Correct. Don’t forget all the kids from outside of the club who want to upgrade their team also…. People will be completely shocked.

Read what they wrote. They aren’t saying RAE isn’t real they are saying if it’s a mixed bag of BY and SY cutoffs then the system effectively deals with RAE by aligning players to the pool that benefits them the most. Together we then beat the effects of RAE between U9-U13

If the daddy of “Mia” doesn’t pound on your snarky ass like a rented mule, I sure and sh*t will. Why is this so important? Coaching and selection have been subjective opinion based systems that for so long that coaches have passed off as fact. It not only shows that they are wrong, but It gives us a glimpse into what those coaches are thinking. And most importantly, it reveals that their selections at early ages are being used to hold a place for others who will take their place later.

It is because of the nature of the team selected. They do not play a schedule, so no worry about selecting with a concern about winning. But next year as they trim from 40 to 20 and new kids come in to the tryout then there is no question, there will be RAE.

We elite parents are very excited and proud to be a part of the ECNL. Our kids and the coaches have been working very hard to earn the right to be a part of the league. We are mostly pumped about the platform the league creates as it will allow us to give our kids the necessary exposure to further their soccer careers.

Teams like the Scorpions SC will have joint tryouts with former GA teams next June, so you have another chance to eat a steaming pile of dung again. In the meantime, keep up your attacks on Talking Soccer.
