    NEAL Announces U9/10

Northeast divisions set to start this fall, I'm wondering when New England Divisions will follow suit.

Absolutely zero need to create these higher level leagues at this age and travel all over the northeast. Even the U12 NEAL and Pre-whatever leagues are unnecessary. Top bracket of NECSL is more than enough all the way through 9v9. Work on development at that age. Parents are the nuttiest cohort on the planet.

The U9/10 who will benefit from this are already playing up in NECSL top bracket U11 or U12. This will provide them competitive play in their age bracket that the NECSL does not provide

you need all that travel to find “competitive play” for 8 and 9 year olds?
You’re either a sucker or a club director trolling for suckers.

If it's already happened in the New York area, it will be implemented soon enough in New England. I hear you about the travel, maybe they do an East/West division setup to keep travel distance closer to acceptable. It's MLSnext clubs only, so I think it'll likely happen.

We were with Bolts at that age.. The top bracket of NEP/NECSL back then offered great local competition. We had many fun and competitive little kid games against very good teams from Bolts East, IFA (then JAB), Seacoast Bedford, Steel (gone now), Legacy (now NEFC South), Aztec, Bayside, LFC. We now see the same kids from those teams are now the ones filling MLS and NAL rosters and some very strong EDP teams too. Bolts ECRL still has a lot of the old Bolts East kids. Never once did I think back then, "This isn't good enough. I'd rather drive my 8 year old to NJ for a better game." Is the talent a little more consolidated in the MLS and NAL? Yes, of course. So, it might make sense to travel for stronger competition at U14 or U15, but at U9 I would have said NFW.

Pretty soon it will be focusing on U-6's who can barely run. At U-9 they should be focusing on playing with their friends for a few years before moving up in competition. U-9's should stick to good programs like Stars, NEFC and Select to develop when they are younger.

Top U9/10 brackets of NECSL already diluted, causing top teams or players to play up in age groups. Having a New England U9 and U10 bracket for Northeast Academy League would provide a dedicated division for such top teams.
And with recent addition of 3 MA teams to the New England bracket, assuming they remove the 3 NY teams then travel will not be much different than current status quo

NEAL is not NAL for one thing.

For another, you're worried about diluted U9's? Aren't they still playing 7v7? Take a step back my man. Those same kids playing on the diluted top NECSL teams are going to be the ones who will be on the NEAL teams next year, just driving a lot further.

Clearly for the $$$. No need for travel at that age. You can get good competition locally.

but and yes there is more than enough dumb parents out there to travel across the state on their weekends for an 8 year old so they can feel special and elite
