3 Step is backed by a private investment firm now and they’ve done a lot of acquisitions. Guarantee more to come

Ask anyone in and around it and they will tell you it was a desperation move by 3step. Both programs struggling and they invested a lot into both. Sometimes desperation moves payoff, most of the time they don't.

3step has already tried selling its clubs back to original owners. Club soccer isn’t the cash cow parents and institutions think it may be. Really costs a ton to operate.

If they merge , how does that work. Do they make Liverpool girls practicing in the south drive to union point?

Don’t know if merger would be the term but could see Liverpool just becoming a seacoast region. I’m sure 3step doesn’t want to pay the naming rights for Liverpool?

It also doesn’t make sense to carry two sets of club overhead expenses when consolidation can happen. 3step bean counters are good at counting those beans.

On the seacoast website they now have tryouts for the "south" region (Kingston) and the "southwest" region (Fall River/east Bridgewater/providence). They told parents that for the top two combined "mass elite" teams (NAL/DPL) they will see who makes the team and then decide if the team will practice out of union point or "southwest" (assumed taunton but that's not where tryouts are). Fun times for seacoast parents.

They've already consolidated a lot of the back office stuff. 3Step does all of that for all the clubs it owns. Not sure you can call cost of coaches or field space "two sets". As long as they have the player count and coaches coach the same number of teams that they normally would, you're not carrying a "second" set. Really just comes down to the coach to player ratio. If the ratio is OK, then you're not carrying extra coaches. Same with field space.

I don't know if it applies to Seacoast everywhere, but Seacoast MA South is a little bit more seat of the pants than some of the bigger more established clubs. They tend to make it up on the fly sometimes.
