Agree - anyone know where we can complain to Fox? He is the worst - makes it sound like a hockey game.

Thank you. I thought it was just me. He needs to be sent off. Finally something on
TS we can, I think, all agree on.

        Exciting

What is wrong with a little excitement in calling a match?
Americans are used to vocal commentary.

I believe that one of the reasons soccer has not caught on as it maybe should in the US is the way that they broadcast it is boring. Seriously all that they do is put a wide angle camera at the mid line and leave it there. Fox needs to take some notes on how the US audience watches sporting events by studying the NFL and NBA broadcasts. They are light years ahead of the soccer people.

100% wrong. I think that Gus Johnson is the best American sports announcer out there, by a lot. He's going to be Fox's lead announcer for the 2018 World Cup. He doesn't really know soccer yet, which was apparent a couple of times in today's game, but given some time to learn the sport, I'm confident he'll be just as good as he is at basketball.

This article (http://www.sbnation.com/2013/2/5/395...gonna-get-loud) puts it well: "The one reason you can't dislike Johnson getting a shot at the job--particularly you, touchy American soccer fan-- is your own snobbery."

Im sure you would be fine with the best Nascar announcer doing the games then! If Mike Gorman was doing the Bruins he would be awkward to listen to because its not his sport. I thinks hes great at doing the Celtics. Gus Johnson is fine with basketball and football but he is NOT ever going to be good at soccer. Its not a game he understands. There are very few PBP guys who could do every sport and be a good listen. Al Michaels is the only one that comes to mind.

The hockey comment was spot on. I say this because I said the exact same thing as I was watching/listening. And stop yelling every time the ball enters the final third! Save it for goals or saves or moments of brilliance. Also, do I need to hear the player's name every time the ball moves to someone else? I know who the players are--probably because I've seen them play more than he has? I hope he gets some big-time mentoring before 2014 if he's really going to be our voice of the World Cup. Maybe he'll listen to the audio a few times and compare it to audio from other matches.

Thank heavens for the volume control. He was ruining my nap. (Happens every time Utd play)

He's horrendously bad - FSC have really dropped the ball on this.

So far he's called Ryan Giggs one of the greatest ENGLISH players of all time, referred to Hazard as French and today asked if Michael Carrick was the new Roy Keane!

I am glad it isn't only me. I was just getting really mad listening to him. He is worse than the current commentators on goal tv, and they are HORRIBLE. I just hate how he gets excited when the ball is played forward. His performance bothered me quite a bit. Maybe he just had a bad day.

Today was his BEST so far and that is scary! The game was so good it didn't bother me as much.

Might still be better than JP Dellacamera.

                              sportscasters

By far the most pathetic was Neville, total disaster. The combination of McManaman and the other dude on Champions league are good. Typically English broadcasters are so biased they infuriate...Gus Johnson is doing a great job. He is excited, that is his style and it works. Barton's stoicism seems like he just came from a funeral, lighten up.
Gus Johnson might be causing some consternation because he is not following in the typical style of soccer broadcasters, but that is o.k. because each country has their own style, remember Andres Cantor?
