OK I think I've got it:

    1) When <X> doesn't join the GA, it's a conspiracy by NEFC to keep them out to avoid competition.
    2) When <Y> and <Z> join the GA, it's a conspiracy by NEFC to dilute the competition.

You must be new to the country not just the area. In the US soccer is a youth sport. We care about adults playing soccer for about 10 minutes every time the World Cup comes around and that’s about it.

Have we learned anything new about NEFC Red and White? Where will the teams train? How are the two teams viewed within the club?

By looks of red coaching assignments, NB has shown he doesn’t care about 2010/2009 age groups. Avoiding them at all costs.

The only thing NB cares for less than the 09s are the 10s.

Here's a little exercise for the ECNL fan boys.

Watch how long the new NEFC teams coming into GA stay together. (Talking several years) Compare it to any of the ECNL clubs in the area. What you'll see is the NEFC GA teams stay together longer which generally translates to players having more fun. This is because they get to experience wins more often.

If you want your kid to love playing she needs to experience wins. The inforces good feelings about the game because nobody is being negative to them about the score. If they don't experience wins they'll just get frustrated and quit.

Watch what happens to the ECNL teams from u13 on. The teams at the top of the regional league will generally stay together. All the rest of the teams will have a revolving door of talent.

You are correct t that ECNL-Regional teams stay together. They don’t have the same sweeping cuts as Blue and White. Players are happy and work very hard. Coaches are excellent too. Where you are wrong is that you are trying to sell to parents GA is a better option than ECNL because they love playing more due to less cuts, and more wins? That doesn’t compute. For top teams such as Blue and White ECNL teams to stay competitive they have to cut from the bottom each year and add to the top or fill holes. The ECNL coaches have a job to provide the best players with the best teammates to get the best results to go to National playoffs, be seen by scouts and ultimately get recruited. This does not happen without ECNL coaches always watching the development of the regional players and players outside the club that can be possible late bloomers, unicorns, whatever. ECNL coaches know their rosters are never “set” they are always in flux to stay competitive which may put pressure on top teams but that’s what they’ve signed up for.

GA teams stay together longer, right up until HS age (most being pre-GA for a few years which I’m including). Then most of the top talent jumps over to an ECNL team for the college recruiting run. That displaces talent on the ECNL team creating the churn you’re talking about. A few players who could jump don’t because the team has been together so long they feel like they owe the club or their teammates. One or two of them will jump to ECNL the next year when the spots left by the first group to leave get filled with players who aren’t as good. A few players that could get a spot on ECNL late stay for various reasons.

To answer the question of the OP: NEFC North Shore simply shifts all their teams up one level. DPL is now GA White, Regional Red is now DPL, etc. No changes for GA Red, it chugs along out of the MetroWest “home” region as it always has. Maybe a player or two making a long commute to Red but lives closer to White switch and maybe some girls that are DPL and excited to be GA get a harsh lesson when their spots get taken by the top players from clubs like Aztec which is imploding.

With the teams being an hour apart it’s a slightly different scenario than Stars where everything for Blue and White run out of the same spot and White is literally the leftovers who couldn’t make Blue.

We get it. Wins in youth soccer are very important to you. May I suggest not even bothering with GA, it could be too risky. Why not just go down a level and really kick some ass?

My kid went undefeated in NECSL last fall. That means we are better and having more fun the NEFC. I am really excited for the college scouts to start showing up.

What I said is that players that are having fun tend to be on teams that are winning. Teams that lose constantly aren't having fun and tend to quit playing earlier.

The top teams that win a lot in GA will stay together longer. The longer a team plays together the more players know each other which translates into more wins. The same thing happens in ECNL.

This is 10+ years of competitive soccer experience with 2 kids involved.

Just watch, some people will go crazy about "competitiveness" this drives them to get their kid on whichever team they feel is the best. They also usually pressure their kid for results. If their kid doesn't make the team or the coach changes favorites the stress adds up. Thow in not winning and this is when players quit playing regardless of league.

Keep in mind that when/if your kid makes it to a college or pro team NOBODY cares which youth league they played in.

NEFC might have crappy local league competition. But clubs will get better over time and they still have to play much better teams at Champions Cup and Finals. Also if NEFC wanted to they can play in tournaments with high level competition.

What I'm describing are things many ECNL parents just don't understand. But that's OK its just unfortunate for your kid who burns out early, and at a younger age. It's also ironic that someone mentioned GA players moving over to ECNL at high school ages. Don't you understand who is being replaced?
