Its pretty hard to run a top speed vs a low block. Also, every sprint is not recorded. Stats can be misleading

Also I can totally see how a footballer would run slower in a race than they would chasing down breakaways. It just makes so much sense.
Why are all of them defenders? Hmmmmm. I wonder why.

And another thing, running with the ball vs running without it? How often do you see forwards running at top speed without the ball. Rarely

A low block only happens when defending a lead late in the game or when opponents are heavily mismatched. It’s pretty rare in the premier league, but your team probably uses it every game.

Umm they should be running down the opposite side of the field from the player with the ball…it should be happening on every play where a player is running down one of the flanks. I’m not sure why you don’t know this…

If you don’t do what do what is described above there will be no one to cross the ball to.

No, not just with leagues. It's a common tactic against teams who want to run into space. Arsenal faces it virtually every week.

Exactly. I realized I was not talking to a soccer person when I rea that so I stopped. The game is about space. All the great teams can exploit spaces, so defending them means being compact. You can play a compact high line and press or a compact low block and sit off. Play a team that can move the ball quickly and efficiently that hs some pace and you will get roasted with a high compact line. The USWNT face low blocks from teams becasue they dont have the tools to deal with them. Man City face one very week apart from a few opponents.

Low block, force the other team to pass the ball around until you bait them into a low % pass, spring your counter and take advantage of space. Simeone has been employing that frequently for years.

Mourinho was quoted once that he didn't want the ball, would rather you had it. Then he'd want to harass you into giving it up in an area that could be exploited.

He also has been dropped mid-season by his last three clubs. I’m here to tell you that a system like that doesn’t produce wins consistently. It’s too easy for a team to create turn over and your counter attack turns into 1-0 my team and yeah we’ll play keep away for 89 minutes.

What system does produce wins consistently and is every team capable of building a team like that. Clearly, no. It is far too simplistic to suggest Mourinho methods dont work. They do if you have access to the player most suited to the system he plays. that is driven by MONEY. Last point - if you think its easy to play keep away, you dont know the game. Controlling a game with or without the ball requires the very best players.

You are trapped in your own argument and cannot get out. If I play keep away at mid field or at the edge of my third you cannot sit in a low block. Hence you will not be playing a counter attacking style. Anyway your argument is poorly constructed why there aren’t players like Mbappe running faster than those to CBs.

becasue teams rarlely allow Mbappe space....obviously. if you truly beleive that "recorded" is not the key word and that Van der Vien and VVD are the fastest players in hte game, then I cant help you. There is a reason that all three named are defenders. The only person trappd is you, by your lack of knowledge. Your first line has nothing to do with my comment.
