Only advice is to ensure your player reaches out to the coaches of target schools. Get on their lists.

And follow up with coaches after the showcase. Even if the coaches can't email or talk to you yet, keep emailing or reaching out to them.

Did your player attend the camp? My daughter said it was a complete waste of time. What was your opinion?

I have to say I'd be surprised if significant college recruiting happens at the DPL level, having watched it for a couple of years. It seems like real interest would only be in the top players on the very top teams. I don't know much about the girls recruiting process, but having been through it on the boys ECNL/MLSN side, even mid-tier ECNL players need to represent themselves very aggressively to have real options and choice.

No matter what, don't assume that your kid is going to be "seen" just by being there. Like an earlier poster said, she will need to communicate tenaciously to generate interest. Lists of college coaches are marketing tools for these events; they don't necessarily come true, and the games that are watched are few and far between, often.

My kid is down there and I expect zero college recruiting b/c a) it's DPL and b) she hasn't leaned into it yet. I would love to be proven pessimistic!

Just a final word of unsolicited advice based on my read of your post, OP . . . you are going to get inundated with "exclusive" ID camp emails etc. etc. after this event, presuming you filled out a recruiting profile. These are money machines. It's not worthless to attend a few of them as practices, but very few players find their way through this route. Your kid should focus on marketing themselves and getting college coaches to watch games. Best of luck!

I would expect a lot of college recruiting to go on at a DPL event, and not just of the top players. I would be surprised if UNC or Florida State was there looking at players but there are over 300 schools with Division 1 women's soccer programs and even more with Div 2/3 and they need to get players from someplace. I will agree wtih everything else you said though, the add-ons are money grabs, and if a player is at any showcase with the hopes of being recruited then they need to understand they have work to do to make that happen.

I think people forget how many schools exist outside of D1. Look at the colleges on the scout list. They take players from leagues lower than DPL. Of course recruiting happens at these events.

Our game last evening had multiple D1 commitments and even more D2 commitments playing in it. There were maybe 20 coaches watching the game at some point. I mean it’s not the turnout you see at ECNL events but there was definitely some recruiting going on.

Of course DPL players can get recruited. It won't be top programs but there are lots of programs that aren't shopping for high D1 talent. However, DPL or other C league players have to be realistic about their targeting and hustle more to get in front of coaches. Only a few on the roster will get recruited. The squads just don't have the same depth as A or B teams.

Exactly and if you look at a few rosters from those schools, you’ll see DPL level players are just what they want. There’s a spot for most players.

I am never sure if people are ignorant, just like to stir the pot, or just enjoy putting other kids down.

DPL and ECRL players will get offers if they put in the work. No question. Will they get a full ride to D1, no, but neither so most GA or ECNL players.
