April is too late even for ECNL if you plan to go to multiple practices. The times will clash with own team so you might get there once a week at best. More times you go the better unless you are a superstar that is highly recruited already.
As a stars parent who sees kids at our practices each year, late March early April is when we see the kids, including ones who make the team. More times is better but once a week through April is a good amount.
