Boys commits are much slower. Some 2024 will still commit. Early 2025 are likely in Spring, Early summer

Ok! So what do 2024s do - go through application process and keep trying to get recruited? My kids are not at this stage yet.

There are a few different paths. Some firm it up as they are applying. Some have multiple situations were schools express interest and they apply to where they are looking then figure out the best situation. Kids are looking for different things I know many a good player who decided to choose academics or a large school where they decided to not play at all or to play club. Lots of funky things can happen with Coaches. Kids think they are going one place and something changes. Some kids don’t like the offers they have either they think they can play a higher Div. or they want a better academic school and decide to do a pg year. I know kids who do a year in Spain some with fire
offer to play for a school when they return. Avoiding a red shirt year. I feel like girls tend to be more clear cut.

Yes, because at this point there won't be many spots left. No money either. Coaches expect you to apply early decision or early action, which is now. Regulardecisionapplicationsare afterthe holidays. However things definitely can change - someone doesn't get accepted, doesn't accept an offer or changed their mind. Some programs finish the dribs and draws. Trying as a walk on is always a possibility, just not a good plan.

Also Some boys such as in nescac may already have been offered a spot which is contingent on acceptance even though that may be a formality, they may not announce their commitment until officially accepted.

Is this last year that players can stay an extra year due to Covid?

I think this is the case for most players, however if the player was a redshirt, I'm pretty sure they have one more year to play. Ex: I'm looking at a roster now that has a player who was listed as a Freshman in 2019, but didn't play due to redshirt. In 2020, he's listed as a Redshirt Freshman, but that was the Covid year. 2021-Redshirt Freshman again, 2022-Redshirt Sophomore, this year listed as a Redshirt Junior. So he still has one year of eligibility left.

Without being a red shirt this is the last season for those given a covid exemption of an additional year.

That may speed up recruiting for the 2025 class.

Sorry, I think I messed this up. If you entered as a Freshman in the fall of 2020, this Covid year, you also can play next year. Freshman year would be moved to 2021, Sophomore-2022, Junior-2023, Senior-2024.

this years 2020 Seniors have one more year of eligibility then its over. The vast majority will not be playing next year as fifth years unless they are going for a Masters degree or are highly desirable players where there will be an immediate need for them and a starter.

So are the 25s in a good place for recruiting, or will schools still pull a ton from the transfer pool?
