I am certainly not a math wizard...so can someone explain how a player "born on or after Jan. 1, 2001" is eligible for a U-19 competition? If I was born on Jan 2, 2001 I would be over 22 years old. Does U-19 mean something different in the soccer would now?

For internationals, they take the age at the start of the campaign. When you include qualifiers all the way into major tournaments, this can often last a couple of years. If you were age appropriate when the first ball was kicked, you qualify until the last one is.
