When some female player from MA (actually more than one..) signs a multi year contract for $1M+ I will agree that all the money you spend is worth it. Haven't seen too many of the Olympic stars pitching products on TV for that matter either. The PR bump from that lasted all of 2 weeks. This forum is full of a bunch of puffed up parents with no perspective and a puffed up sense of worth. Truly is high comedy.
#1 - players like Abby Wambach and Hope Solo get paid somewhere between 60K and 80K a year, plus they have endorsement deals. That is the level that someone like SM is trying to get to.
#2 - SM is playing for Pali Blues to get high level competition over the summer and to play alongside some of her college teammates so she (and they) will be ready for their fall college season. It is also, likely, part of her pursuit of going pro and playing for the full WNT someday. No the Pali Blues don't do great at the gate, but that isn't really the point for the players. For the players it is about high level competition. As for attendance at pro women's games, should she make the next level, there is plenty of documentation around about the various successes and failures of these endeavors. Suffice it to say that the newest version of women's pro soccer, the NWSL, has a tough road ahead of it.
#3 - That is great that your daughter is doing so well. Why are you so down on someone like SM pursuing her own dreams and path in life? Let's say she doesn't "make it" as a pro. She'll still have a degree from UCLA. Everyone knows that the vast majority of players never accomplish what SM has, and that a large percentage of those that get as far as she has gotten won't go on to become the next Mia, Kristie, Abby, Hope, etc. But why the need to crap on those who choose to chase it?

Then what at age 30? Hopefully injury free and with connections that help her build a career she loves. Chances are though it won't be in soccer. People need to take their rose colored blinders off. They only post this stuff because it validates their dreams. Which probably aren't even the same as their kid's.

You who's 28 year old daughter is a COO of a multi-million company and still visiting this site to brag about it. Maybe your kid is completely miserable and you don't even know it. I know women with degrees from some of the top colleges in the country who have decided to be stay a home mothers and are perfectly content with the decisions they have made to do so. As others have pointed out some people define success in other ways. If SM and KM are happy doing what they are doing, what's it to you? I suspect that at the end of their soccer careers they will be just as successful doing something else thanks to the lessons they have learned playing soccer.
As for my daughter - she changed careers because she wasn't happy. She was a good soccer player but we were never under any illusions that it was anything more than a nice way to spend weekends.
