We've not asked for discounts but we've had years where the club fee we paid was less than what others on the team said they paid. We learned not to discuss what we pay for club fees, tournament fees, etc. At times, I feel guilty not paying what everyone else says they pay but if the company selling me their product asks me to pay less than others, I'm not going to say I'll pay full price. The OP asked about "negotiating" the price. We've never done that. We only pay what we've been asked to pay.
