Soccer balls - keep them inflated, buy decent balls

Many players come to training with balls that aren’t close to being adequately inflated. That’s not good for the player, or the rest of the team when they do drills that share balls.

Each ball has a pressure range marked on it. Inflate the ball to the bottom to middle of the range. Some may prefer the high end. If that’s too complicated, try 9 psi for younger kids and 10 psi for 11v11. Be sure to moisten the needle before inserting it in the valve.

It will probably feel harder than you think it should, at first. But an inflated ball not only responds better when kicked, it is rounder and smoother.

Also if the ball is torn etc it won’t fly as well so time for a new ball.

Preferably get a ball with light texture on the surface such as the adidas League balls. They go on sale from time to time. MYSA also has a coupon for Dicks once or twice a year.

And as with cleats of course the most important thing is the color. Be sure to run that past your player.

How about spend some of that money you charge people on equipment and provide each coach with what they need?

In what other sport do kids need to show up bringing their own ball? It’s ridiculous

In baseball they bring their own glove. Is that ridiculous?

Most balls can go a week, sometimes two, without a top up. Balls with latex bladders are the main exception.

Notice how they don't take their own balls? A glove is a personal item that some prefer one style over another, just like cleats so it's a ridiculous comparison.

If my club made us bring our own soccer balls that would be the first red flag for me to get out of there. Shows that their only goal is to maximise that profit margin so much that they won't even purchase the correct equipment.

Every club I have ever seen has the kids bring their own balls. Coach has a hand full of balls for team drills and scrimmages but she can’t be expected to bring 15+ balls for each kid to dribble or juggle on their own at practice. Very much a personal item (much like a glove)

Only response you have because you know we're right. Can make you pay upwards of 2.5k a year but can't purchase a bag of balls so the coach can do their job?

You've been involved in some pretty shoddy clubs then.

                      Ignore the idiots.

Town and HS players bring their own balls. Most kids should be doing extra practice on their own or with friends, best to get a few or several balls if kids practice shooting.

A glove is a personal item to fit the individual. A ball is a generic item for use by all. Never mind I said “ball” not “glove”.

                        Just how simple are you?

Name a club that brings all the balls.

                            Who’s this freakin idiot?

When we start rolling out our own balls during the game your weak attempt at making a correlation will have a shred of relevance

Wait, serious question. Are there really clubs that don’t give balls to their coaches? Are you all talking about town soccer “clubs”?
