Not a useful way to think about this. "There are many coaches" is not the same thing as your player being seen by those coaches, even if some of them are standing on the sidelines of that player's game. Even for the best prospects, only a portion of the coaches are evaluating them for recruiting. And most of the players are invisible to most of the coaches at that type of event.

Getting recruited is a targeting game, if you need a pithy slogan.

It definitely is (unless you're a NT level player that can write their own ticket). The better the targeting the better your odds of success

That sounds about what I expected. I wonder the numbers and percentages of the commits to P5 Top 30 programs.

I stopped reading @ImYouthSoccer a while ago, it's too cringe to read. What kind of person spends their life stanning hs soccer players? And it doesn't come across as unbiased or reliable.

There's still a lot of D1 recruiting/offers going on and will into the spring. No shocker that more top players (that get the earlier offers) are in ECNL. Bettrr and bugger league. As more deals are struck down each bench and into lower level D1s, the proportions will shift some. Some.

that imyouthsoccer thing is a little weird. not saying that they dont collect decent data, and maybe that data is useful for people choosing clubs for their younger kids, but its no less strange that theyre out there following and tracking HS kids so closely.

I wonder which teams are getting recruited more heavily. I expected ECNL to have a large percentage. But I bet both of the ECNL and GA league winners are just as heavily recruited.

if you look at the rankings app you can see that the top 50 teams + their league affiliation mirrors what's being relayed.

What I'm saying is that just playing for an ECNL or GA team won't get your kid recruited. You have to be on a GA or ECNL or whatever team that wins enough to get noticed.

The ECNL pompom squad does get annoying sometimes.

Sorry your kids teams ability to get blown out week after week does not make them visible to recruiters. A recruiter has never said look at how well they handled losing and never will.

I've actually heard ECNL parents tell GA or whatever league parents that their kid on a losing ECNL team is better than other kids in XYZ league. Sorry your kid is just a crash test dummy for the kids that will get recruited and play in college.

I'd venture to guess my kid's team had around a .300 winning percentage, first in GA and then in ECNL. Games were mostly competitive, but wins were rare.

She sorted through 5 firm offers, 2 of which are NCAA regulars and the others rarely make the tournament.

                        Schools recruit players, not teams.

So much misinformation enclosed in a single post. Well done. Hard to be so firmly wrong without working at it. Good to see your efforts paying off though!

Are you trying to say that playing on a losing ECNL team will get your kid more recruiter looks than being on a winning GA or whatever league player?

I do agree that recruiters recruit players not teams. But teams that win will get looked at before teams that lose.

I have no idea the number of looks each will get. I can't be in two places at once.

                                However:

Wrong. I state that as a parent of a kid who's team was never in the playoffs (GA or ECNL), was at best mid-table, and still had a considerable amount of activity. Coaches absolutely look at how you handle winning, losing, playing ahead and playing from behind. When they talk to current coaches, past coaches, opposing coaches, these are the questions they ask

It's actually true. If you want to see how a kid plays when it's tough and they are up against it, wouldn't you rather watch them handle Blue vs. some other minor league club? At some point, common sense needs to be considered.
