I'm not talking about the stars either. I have seen it on other teams. It's not acceptable on any team. Girls don't need to learn to take abuse from men, that's been going on for centuries. Let me ask you how you would feel if your daughter's husband spoke to her in the same manner?

They call their players **** but when hope solo has a bad game you don't think the media is saying oh is was just an off day. Or at least she tried. No they say she played like ****. Stars sets you up for the real world where real bosses call your work crap and real people step all over you to get the better job. It may not be a good club for the younger ages but once you turn 15 it is the best club around. Everyone wants to be on it. But there is sooooooo many factors as to why kids can't. It's not fair. And that's why so many people bash stars. But it is what it is. And the kids that are on it good for them. They are one of the few lucky kids.

Look at the timing of most of these posts. It's got to be someone posting and responding to his/herself.
Club soccer is not a prison. If you don't like what's happening in your club, or on your team, put your money where your mouth is and walk. Excellent players can get to where they want to go through a number of different paths. If it is meant to be, and you are doing the right things to get there, it will happen.

The Stars philosophy of play is good, and they do produce quality players, but if they use questionable methods to "motivate" players, that taints their reputation. That too is a "real world" consequence.
In the 'real world' people shoot school children. They beat, rape, use sexual harrassment and other power trips to get what they want. This is all true, but it is not acceptable.
My daughers have both played on excellent teams but have moved because the coaches were abusive. They didn't want to go, but we forced them, telling them that there is NEVER a good enough reason to subject yourself to verbal abuse. They were both younger when the moves were made and both have since thanked us for removing them from the situation. Oh, and they are both quite successful in their chosen soccer and academic careers, despite playing for coaches who were not "motivating" them through fear and insults.

BTW, neither daughter played for Stars when they encountered these abusive coaches. It happens all over youth soccer, and other youth programs. Its the American way...from 20 years ago.

They do not represent all Stars parents rather the few who are conflicted by what is happening to their daughters. They know they should not permit what is being done to their kid to continue but they themselves want to be part of the program so bad that they put up with it, at the detriment of their daughter. Usually the parent was themselves a terrible athlete which drives this, but at the expense of their daughter who develops self-esteem and confidence issues after being berated by these lightly educated men. The end result for them is usually a life of debauchery when they get away from daddy and mummy, substance abuse and being used and abused by men they barely know. And your fledgling Star will be happy to let it happen. So, I'm sure its cool to be part of the club and all but you should know that legions of young men thank you for creating these young women and all of their 'daddy issues.' Keep up the good work.
