    Stars

At the end of the day everyone wants to play for stars. No matter how much you hate it or say its not worth it it ist. It's the team that everyone's wants to play for. Unforunatly you must have the money the mental ability to forget what a coach calls you and the athletic ability to play at a high level. They call their players **** but when hope solo has a bad game you don't think the media is saying oh is was just an off day. Or at least she tried. No they say she played like ****. Stars sets you up for the real world where real bosses call your work crap and real people step all over you to get the better job. It may not be a good club for the younger ages but once you turn 15 it is the best club around. Everyone wants to be on it. But there is sooooooo many factors as to why kids can't. It's not fair. And that's why so many people bash stars. But it is what it is. And the kids that are on it good for them. They are one of the few lucky kids.

Funny because my two kids could care less about them so why should I care. You've got serious issues if you think this is even important.

And this person has real self-esteem issues. If my boss called my work "crap" I'd find a better job. Teaching your kids to be thick-skinned is one thing, teaching them to accept abuse from those in positions of authority is the wrong. That's not the "real world", that's the abusive world you shouldn't have to accept.

Am not from Mass so never even heard of the stars and have no opinion on them- but will say that if thu are telling kids they are playing like crap or whatever if they make a mistake, that very obviouslymeans that the kids will be afraid to learn to be creative or try anything more advanced then the most simple soccer- so in other words there is less elite technical development in this environment- so maybe the teams can learn how to win, but
Hard to convince me that the most individual skilled players are being developed from young ages if they are afraid to try something creative or
More advanced from fear that it may not be executed properly and be called crap- so simple basic winning soccer being encouraged at the stars, not elite players at the top level who need to learn creativity and individual skills from young age (which means mistakes made while you learn them).

Why is it always referred to as "abuse"? Sometimes it is "crap". We've become so thin-skinned that criticism is referred to as "abuse".
Are there exceptions that cross the line? Of course, but we have lowered the threshold to an imaginary level.

I don't think that is necessarily true and my kid played on one of their nationally ranked teams.

I feel sorry for them too, not to many parents enter a club willing to accept the only kids that matter is the one that last performed well.

A good coach should know the individual players. Some players will respond by being told they played like crap and some others will wilt. If a coach is determined to develop players, s/he has to consider the psychology involved in bringing each individual along.

Honestly- it's true- believe it or not there are readers of the talking soccer threads outside je states of fl and mass- it really is entertaining reading to see the soccer parents go at it so viciously, and for whatever reason other states in the US don't have the same entertaining soccer parent forums that those states do- you Massachusetts and Florida parents take their kids soccer VERY personally for whatever reason and makes for fun light reading, sort of like a cross between people magazine and national enquirer.

Star's coaches don't know where to draw the line.

Real world or not, if someone is telling you that they think you could have performed better ,or that your effort is lacking, who would you be more apt to listen to, respect, and try to please...the person using profanity and insults, or the person expressing themselves in a more direct and appropriate manner?

Its like I tell my kids...there are thousdands of words in the English language. Take the time to learn the language and use it to express yourself in a direct but respectful manner.
