    Invite time after tryouts

New to club soccer. How long does it typically take a club to respond to you with an invite after tryouts? Do they usually send a email even if they didn’t make the team?

If they want you, they'll approach you during or after tryouts.
They might send you email later if they want you on a lower team.
If a couple days pass, you should move on.

^^^^ What he said. They want the roster filled asap so they can start collecting the cash. It's a business and they want paid.

If they want you, they will grab you before the tryouts are over.

Depends on age, team level and how many tryouts they have. I remember around U11 D moving to a "big" club but she had practiced with the team and they told her to come to the tryout. Her invite came a day after the first tryout session and by the second session, they already had moved the "A" team to their own corner. I think they added 1-2 more over the next few weeks after that at most.

Moving to ECNL, she was told the day she trained that they wanted her for the top team right after the training session (not an ID/tryout).

This is why its better to attend practices than tryouts.

unfortunately, many clubs do not email if a child does not make it. It's rude. If you haven't heard within a day or two they didn't make it in all probability.

This is not necessarily accurate. It depends on the type of tryout and also the level the of the team your kid is trying out for. For lower level teams, it is possible that during an open tryout, if a player is doing well, they might approach him/her and then contact you that same evening or the next day with an offer. If it is a higher level team, they might contact the player after the general tryout and ask him/her to join a practice with a specific team (ECRL, ECNL, DPL, GA). Higher level teams do not offer you a roster spot after just one practice unless the player is amazing or they know him/her already. The coach generally will invite that player to a few practices to make sure he/she is a good fit for the team, and also because they understand that most players wont perform their best the first time they practice with a new team. Many times coaches will wait until they see several players before deciding who is the best fit for the team. If you haven't heard from them in a couple of days, just contact them. If you feel that your kid didn't perform well, let them know when you contact them. Good luck!

Mostly yes, assume the worst. Your kid could be on the wait list and they reach out as others turn down offers. Problem is they weren't as interested in your player which could foretell not much PT.
