Interesting how the Revs lost last time and aren’t back this year. I’m betting on IFA or Bolts to win this year. The Surf 2005 team is good and won State Cup and that NEFC team just killed everyone in the Virginia event, but they aren’t quite at the same level.

Yes because winning is what it's all about.

The event is obviously about showcasing the best recruits in the region. But we all know the players want to win the event. If you win this, especially if you aren’t one of the MLS Next teams, it’s legit bragging rights that you are the best team in the state. It’s not supposed to be about winning, but don’t kid yourself.

How did these four teams get invited? Why aren’t others invited. Doesn’t seem fair to other clubs. Our team has a bunch of players that are at this level.

I cannot imagine any serious person would claim that winning this showcase in the middle of the summer, presumably with a patchwork quilt of players on each roster (well, because middle of the summer) and comprised of 4 teams spanning several age groups, somehow makes you the best team in the state. Best team in the 4 team showcase, possibly, but state?

Ok smart guy. He plays for Stars ECNL and his team beat the NEFC team twice this year. Ridiculous that we aren’t invited.

It’s not really middle of the season. We are still playing. This is the week before nationals for us. And I think it’s complete rosters. The only team that might be a mixed roster is Bolts, but I’m sure that’s mostly their MLS Next guys. Sounds like you’re already making excuses.

Ok, fair enough. I’ve got nothing to do with any of these teams, just think it is ridiculous that anyone would think that winning a showcase tournament would give them bragging rights for anything. Don’t get me wrong, I think this kind of thing is great for the kids - exposure against good competition is fantastic. I just think it’s a stretch to think it’s anything beyond that. Good luck to you at Nationals and in the showcase. Sincerely. All good for MA soccer.

MLS next team will finish their season in Dallas by the end of June. Definitely, they will not join this showcase

I take it you’re with the Revs?

Not only Revs but also Bolts, Seacoast, they finish the season in June and will restart with the “new” squads from August in general. They need enough rest after hard training and games after the season.

It’s two weeks after they are done. Bolts are sending their MLS Next players because they actually care about their players being seen by colleges and they aren’t afraid of competition. Also, I believe that NEFC and IFA are both MLS Next now too. But apparently they are ready to play as well.
