FIFA is politics; sectional and corrupt

Mourinho is brilliant - he knew he would not win Coach of the year because he is always talking the truth, eventhough that is what pisses everybody off. Ronaldo deserved the Ballon D'Or this year because he single handedly delivered the supercup and the league to Real Madrid. In fact he was ahead in scoring until the league was a no brianer. Messi is an awesome player, last year (2011)he was a shoe-in to win it, he was the best. This year he scored a million goals, but he missed various big time opportunities, including the penalty against Chelsea. Barca clearly plays for him. In my opinion, to be the best you have to score the goals that give you trophies, Messi did none of that. Lastly, every opponent plays against Messi like they are playing against their little brother, nobody touches him, and the refs protect him. Against Ronaldo, everybody plays against him like he's the guy who would steal your girlfriend, they beat him up. Everyone who is a fan of La Liga knows what I am referring to. International soccer is a big money circus; there has to be a good guy and a bad guy to sell confrontational news and the characters are cast.

Maybe some day Renaldo will be World Player of the Year, but it won't happen when his "oh, I'm sad....", "pay attention to me...." act is the real take away for the season. That picture says it all.

Messi on the other hand - look at the smile on Messi's face when he plays and the joy. How about that pokadot tux - its just fun! The video at the bottom of the link above is great too - his play inspires art.

Not just Christiano. There is also Neymar and Falcao in the background who both look like they just ate a worm sandwich. Priceless.

                    Hatin on Cristiano

It is a past time for some, but he is nothing but class. I agree that there is a double standard on how they are treated. When Barcelona played Benfica recently Messi got some physical play, went out on a stretcher after minor contact and was playing in la Liga three days later. If Ronaldo did that it would have been major speculation news in Spain. I'm not even going to overview the elbow Messi landed on Maicon in the series back when Inter won the Champions.
I have heard a coach say that what saves Ronaldo from being seriously hurt is that teams are afriad to foul him because of his free-kick ability.
Recently a player was punished with a suspension for stating to the ref made the call because it was Messi, he was right.
What i'm saying here is that i agree that Messi is an excellent player, but I have taken the Halo off...
Zidane - now there's a player. Successful in France, Italy, and Spain. Led his french to the world Cup in 1998 and won Ballon D'or. It was his only time. I'll take Zidane over Messi any day. Let Messi go to England and then we'll see how good he is. Take his supporting cast away and you take the Halo off his head.

Zidane is great as long as you like a side order of headbutt with your football.

                        head butt or butt head

Which one are you? So often American fans have iconic moments stuck in their head about athletes from Europe. I am a person who reads Spanish and yes, Spanish media hammers Mourinho, and Ronaldo, Coentrao, Pepe. Apparnetly the Spanish have a bad case of penis envy with the Portuguese. Recently they have softened up on Ronaldo, no pun intended. But about Zidane, he was magic. When Rooney stepped on Carvalho's balls, that was forgotten. On occasion players lose their cool, especially when provoked, which Rooney was not. But Zidane was the smoothest player to ever lace them up.

                          Both are awesome.

Don't get me wrong: Messi is an unbelievable soccer player but he has the whole team playing a style that suits him to score tons of goals and shine. He is not that type of diamond with Argentina.
I wouldn't like to see what FIFA and media are considering the best player ever in soccer not wining a world cup. He never convinced me when playing for the national team. We have to remember names like: Pele, Maradona, Zidane,...all of them were stand out no matter were they played. They dominated and won the leagues they played and led their national teams to world cup championship.
Tough to swallow the fact that Messi is not that scintillant away from Xavi and Iniesta. Sad that these two will be forgotten and perhaps they are more responsible for what Messi is today than himself.

Messi put 3 in at Met life Stadium against Brazil last summer in a 4-3 win for Argentina. One of the best games I have ever seen.
