A lot of desperate, last-gasp deflection/diversion that reeks of impotence and shows how little juice BTDT has left in the tank. Not sure what is more pathetic, the lame fictions or the ridiculous cover up efforts.

I don't believe in God, but I'm afraid of him
Who is he? He is supposed to be Turkish. Some say his father was German. Nobody believed he was real. Nobody ever saw him or knew anybody that ever worked directly for him, but to hear people tell it, anybody could have worked for him. You never knew. That was his power. The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. And like that, poof. He's gone.

Perspective, what is your take on performance development?
Is it mainly based on playing against the top competition?
Does any other things factor in for you?

Also, any thoughts on Mallory Pugh for the WNT U-20? I'm afraid to ask about her background. Might get attacked for asking an innocent question.

I didn't know that. MP's very fast and agile, which are genes for the most part. She's an interesting player to watch. I think MP has verbally committed to UCLA. At least, that's what the announcers said in the U.S. Germany game.

Still mad Jethro got blocked by Jerry Kramer with 13 seconds left in the Packers-Cowboys Ice Bowl. Jethro, btw, is 70.

There's another little known fact. We all have genetics. Some have great genetics even though you've never heard of them. Probably some pretty good genetics on this forum. And while well-known athletes do tend to have kids who do pretty well, one might think that the number who actually "make it" would be quite large. There have been a ton of children of college and professional athletes who haven't come close to reaching any kind of stardom. And there are a ton of stars who without hindsight you wouldn't have guessed had great genetics at all.

Genetics plays a role, as well as work ethic, passion, coaching, competition, luck, etc. Not pushing genetics here.

You can make a case that a high proportion of athletic success is attributable to genetics. It's a very hard argument to make in many sports, easier in others where super-size is a prerequisite (football, basketball). In any event, MP's relation to a former pro athlete wouldn't make the case. It is just as likely that being the child of a professional athlete carries expectations and sense of possibilities that would be different than for the kids of, say, an orthodontist. My guess is that the son of an orthodontist has a higher probability of becoming an orthodontist than the average person. And the same goes for just about any profession. No one tries to say that's genetics.
That isn't to say that there is no such thing as genetic predispositions. But if you ran a sub-5 second 40 in HS you have all the "genetics" any soccer player would need to play soccer at the highest level in the US. Athleticism isn't going to be the constraint - being able to play soccer likely will be.
