    Trapped GA players

I see the U14 GA schedule started in September and the U15 GA schedule started in December.

What do trapped GA players do Sept- Nov?

Do they play down in a non GA team?

same thing most other trapped 8th graders do - hope their club and league allows them to play on a younger team, or use the time off to train on their own, do something else

Ask her club, or an older parent, what they did last year at your club.

A lot of them played on Varsity as 8th graders.

nonsense. Most public schools don't allow 8th graders on the HS teams

There are no trapped GA players because GA continues to play through HS seasons.

Lol wut. You are thinking of the now defunct DA which GA became. GA doesn't play in the fall in the HS ages.

Exactly. Once the allowed HS too many kids wanted to play and there weren't enough to field teams. MLSN kept the old BDA no HS rule....but with private school exceptions

Well, no, that's not what happened. The Academy system disbanded for various reasons. When GAL started to rise from the ashes, it was determined (rightly) that the 7-month season appeals to the paying crowd more than the 10-month season.

OP was referencing "GA" players, which are girls.

Yes fully aware. The rebranded GDA now GA decided to allow HS. It was for survival reasons

Yes, your end result was correct. But there wasn't a time where they had to drop HS because "there weren't enough to field teams". When they restarted the program HS was in the plans from the get go.

Youre arguing over a minute detail that doesnt matter. Like the poster said GDA had to in order to remain competitive for talent. BDA, now MLS, has much greater market share and the clear #1 position, so they still force boys to give it up.

As for the thread op ask your club. She should be able to play on the younger team for the fall. Most leagues allow for it.

That is a decision your conference made but there is no GA requirement to do so. The Mid Atlantic Conference schedules games through the ten months. The schedule is lighter during HS seasons for the two regions where MD and north play HS in the fall and VA plays HS in the spring but they play ten months.

Carry the issue forward to your league representatives.

Either way, the trapped playing cry fest has been argued over and over and in the end it comes down to this, suck it up for the 3 freaking months and move the hell on with life.

The Northeast and the Pacific North West are the only GA conference that do not schedule league games through ten months.

The reason for not scheduling in HS has as much to do with the states themselves (i.e. some don't allow you to miss anything for another activity) as much as anything else.

GA, or any league, would gladly spread it out and limit, but not eliminate, playing in the fall if the HS athletic departments weren't feeling threatened.
