Ask the coach but probably not needed.

      Just ask the coach.

Does the player have an offer yet? If not, then you definitely need to go (and to be honest, I'd say your chances are not great if you still don't have an offer yet). If you're already signed for next year, you probably don't need to go but should ask the coach.

Guessing this is probably about Nefc given that they've had one id clinic a few weeks ago, and the second one is tonight?

If they have been practicing with the team for a length of time, you should know by now whether to expect an offer. Do the current players on the team attend the ID sessions? At some clubs, they don’t. I would just ask the coach where your player stands. Some parents avoid doing this because they are afraid of the answer, but better to know now if your kid isn’t a fit so that you can move on.

(Weirdo) OP here. I’m looking for stories good, bad, and in between, to help parents see the range of what might happen.

My kid tried out for a team. It was clear as they practiced that they were a tight knit group and had no interest in anyone new breaking in. They were very physical and broke my kid’s jaw. After leaving the emergency room, my kid never played soccer again.

Although sometimes moving teams can be challenging, some folks find their team then ride it to the end. More comfortable perhaps, but don't underestimate the value of learning from different coaches and playing with different types of players.

The kid and family are still friendly with the old team and are well respected as quality people. The kid is thriving on the new team.
Kid will totally have his revenge when they play against each other.
