NEFC Boys moving out of the ECNL

    Good evening Everyone,

    Hope all is well!

It has been a fast and furious couple of weeks with league movement to strategically position our boys program on a platform that will continue the growth of NEFC. I am excited to announce MLS Next has recognized the talent and potential of our club and has decided to expand our pathway to include U15-U19 age groups. This is a tremendous opportunity for NEFC to further develop our players and provide them with a clear pathway to the highest levels of competition.

With this expansion we will also be entering our tier two teams into the newly formed National Academy League with all the other MLS Next Clubs that will be announced tomorrow on social media. Both Leagues will be kicking off in Fall of 2023 and we will no longer be participating in the ECNL.

I believe this is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff, coaches, and players, over the past 6 years. I am confident that we will continue to build on our success and provide the best possible development opportunities for our players. We will have a Zoom Meeting April 26th with all the details. More details to follow!

If you have any questions or concerns please let me know!

    Thanks!

    Christian

Still don't get how bozo Bayside keeps sneaking through into this stuff.
of note: Oakwood in CT not listed. Don't see any other current MLSN affiliated clubs missing.

true, but it’s them or Surf if you’re trying to cover the Rhode Island geography and counter competing clubs

It is supposed to be the MLSN clubs in the Northeast so it makes sense that Bayside would be there (not to mention they are in the NEAL already). Any chance Oakwood is getting booted from MLSN? They are not at all competitive with the the other clubs in the northeast?

Right. If they aren't in this new 2nd league and every other club is that means something.

Bolts are in this league too. Are they leaving ECNL as well?

All MA teams with MLS NEXT teams are now out of ECNL. FC Stars will remain in ECNL as of now apparently.

That’s terrible. So they will only play CT and NY teams?

Are the FC Stars boys leaving ECNL too? The players must be trying out for NAL at this point

There are 19 teams in the conference. It lost NEFC & Bolts. I’m sure the other 17 will survive.
