Why wasn't Select let into ECNLR

Why wasn't Select let in last week when lots of clubs were taken for ECNL's 3rd division? Lesser clubs were let in, but no Select. You would think this might be their way into ECNL in the future. NEFC will never let Select back into DPL after Select lead the disrespectful charge to demolish DPL only a few years ago, so it is very odd that ECNL did not let Select in to it's 3rd division. Select seems to be bottled into a corner where no leagues want them. Other than Select's top teams who are settled into GA where do the next teams play next year? What a mess Select has gotten themselves into and they can only blame themselves for this.

NEFC doesn’t control DPL though. Select (and Aztec) should just go grovel and get back in. Not talking about quality of play, only league structure, I do believe that the DPL brand rather than NPL is stronger, with mandatory showcases rather than being at a coach’s whim, and having ECRL and DPL as the 3rd tier leagues instead of a watered down NPL too would be better for all.

Completely agree. Select should play DPL. When they left they said they wanted to play with like minded clubs so they formed Impact. What did that mean?

Agreed. Clubs shouldn't have to make attendance and honoring commitment mandatory. Should be able to do it on their own. Some don't care about playing in a team environment which causes problems for others so clubs make things mandatory. It's unfortunate. There are plenty of other places to play where they don't need that level of commitment.

I agree. Commitment is very important, but if a coach/club has to make something mandatory, then there's a problem.
If a kid feels like they are being FORCED by MANDATE to go to anything like a practice, game, tournament... then something is wrong.

My daughter is in DPL & I agree with this. I feel like the DPL tournaments I have been to are well organized with decent exposure. I know folks will argue over the ECNL vs GA all day, but I think From what I have seen, the DPL & ECRL are fairly close in terms of talent/competition where as NPL leagues seems less so.

Select will have all it's teams in IMPACT and they will constantly play each other, per other thread, so they can win IMPACT. It's all about the W's!

Everyone wants fewer leagues with better structure, but once some ground rules are set to make the league function professionally then 'aw my god, this is too hard for my snowflake kid and our family to manage'

Everyone complains about anything in a "high level" league but want the same results as a Sunday league player.

Stars has repeatedly blocked Select from getting ECNL. Do you think they’d let them get ECRL? No.

Whatever. But keep in mind that some teams don't go to Jeff Cup because their coaches and some parents realize it makes no sense for their team. Because it makes no sense for about half the teams who do go.

Families also have some say about travel tournaments in most clubs, as they should.

Of course not, but at the same time families shouldn't sign up for teams without understanding the commitments and realistically assessing their ability to make those commitments. It isn't fair to the team or coach if you're not at the vast majority of practices and games. If you don't want to travel for games or tournaments don't sign up for teams that travel - and then don't whine if the competition isn't as good.

While I don’t disagree, that wasn’t exactly what I meant. My daughter played for an Impact team that did well. Our coach didn’t like attending the “big” showcases like Jefferson Cup so we didn’t go. We attended smaller and more local ones that didn’t bring in the schools most girls were interested in. Plus there was also the issue of everyone having an opinion on which we should attend, etc. We, along with several other families, moved to DPL. Now we know up front which events we’re attending. The coach can’t say I don’t like that one. The parents aren’t offering 23 different opinions. It’s laid out. Take it or leave it.

The players themselves aren’t forced to go. Obviously they are expected if possible but that’s not what I meant by mandatory.
