If you’re one of the good teams in DPL or Impact, like Surf or Aztec, why would you stay in these leagues? Wouldn’t you want to go to where you can actually get some exposure?

In short, to develop. People here talk so much about development, and that’s what it takes for a player to develop and reach their potential. Playing with a high-level team.
That is something a player can’t practice on their own. They need to be on a team that trains and plays that way.
The ECRL2 are not at that level.

Depends on the age group (2007 Aztec impact is good) But impact is done. So how much exposure can a weak finished up league give those 07s? Should have left for Scorpions.

Here’s a secret. If you’re interested in low level D3 schools, which is mostly the “exposure” you will get, you don’t need ECRL or DPL. Just send some film and attend their camps. Stay on whatever team makes you happiest. IF your kid has loftier goals then they should be on a higher team. IF they manage to get to D1 playing ECRL, they would have made it regardless. There is almost ZERO exposure offered to the higher levels. In fact, one might say a kid playing on her clubs top team who has performed strongly against s variety of teams is a better sell than a kid on the 3rd, 4th, or 5th team at Stars.
Some people here invent so much nonsense that it’s actually scary.

You don’t get better playing weaker teams. And your team won’t stay strong if your top players have left for their GA team or other ECNL teams. I’m specifically thinking of 2010s and 2009s, especially Liverpool 2010s.

Alleycats top team is currently in NL and second team is in Impact. Next year their top team will be in ECRL while second team remains in Impact. So no change in quality there.
Aztec and Select didn’t get into ECRL so no change in quality.
Stars currently has their 5th team in Impact. Can lose them without a change in quality. Plus their Sky Blue teams are operating out of a variety of locations. Not necessarily a 1 to 1 swap with current Impact teams.
Bayside has top team in Elite 64 and will move them to ECRL. Their Impact teams are already second tier this year so no change there.
As usual, this was overhyped and overblown by TS with very few facts involved. Very little change for Impact. Select dads need to calm way down.
