No question the tweets were juvenile, w/out class, etc, but clearly not worthy of a suspension. She should not be a candidate for team captain. What you all have failed to consider is the fact that none of the tweets are slanderous. They are all factually based. Sandusky was a monster. The university became complicit in the monstrosity by settling with all the victims which enabled the monster to continue his vile and despicable acts for YEARS. The university covered it all up in order to protect the revenue stream from the football program. And all those Innocent programs took the blood money. If you lack the self respect to separate yourself from such an institution, you better get a thick skin.

I haven't seen this rule - could you please cite it? I'm not doubting you but I can't imagine it is not violated all the time.

This is ridiculous. She young and she made a mistake. Is there anyone out there who has not done or said something inappropriate or stupid at sometime. i am sure she will learn from this and it will be an example for athletes and everyone.

So you believe comments like: "wonder if well get into the visitors locker room at Penn state…I hear the showers are weiners only, 10 and under" in a public Twitter account is factually based and not worthy of censorship or disciplinary action from BC?
Frankly, I have more contempt for you than for the young women who made the remarks.

That is why she was suspended. BC does not want to represent itself as a place without class!!!!.

factually based?
There is no issue of slander, it is question of how the school wants to be portrayed via it's representatives.

She made a mistake - I have no problem with her making those comments in private (off color humor has it's place), but she acted foolishly as a representative of the school. She was punished. Case closed.
The posters who don't see the problem are a much bigger problem. They will continue to perpetuate stupid behavior in the inability to judge proper public behavior. I certainly would not want them representing any organization I belong to.

They gave a home to a local kid who could not live in his own home. I never understood the situation completely because they did not speak of it freely, but they opened their home to him and he lived there as another son and attended school while he was working things out with his family. I know it was not easy but they cared about him and went above and beyond to help him through a difficult situation.
That's all I need to know - true compassion and charity. Quite different from what one reads here.
