Looking a little deeper at league results, they were mid-table in Region I Premier. In NE Premiership, they were 1st in 2012, and this year, mid-table. They have only lost to Seacoast Benfica and WUP Red, 2 of the top teams in the state. Also observe that NE Premiership plays an unequal schedule: the 1st place team has played #2, 4 and the bottom 4 (9-12).

and Aztec, Benfica, Bolts, FC Mass., NEFC, Sachems, Scorpions, Stars and Western United. By and large, the clubs with both boys and girls programs and teams in every age group form New England Premiership.

There are many clubs, notably Blazers, that are solely or predominantly boys and persist in MAPLE.

Of the quarterfinal teams, 3 were MAPLE, 5 were New England Premiership.

Results vs common opponents this year, re: WUP Red-CU semifinal:
vs Bulldogs - WUP Red tied, CU won and tied
vs Massapequa - WUP Red lost twice, CU won
vs Conn. FC - WUP Red won, CU won
vs Stony Brook - WUP Red won, tied and lost, CU tied
vs Knights - WUP Red won, CU won, lost and tied
vs Eastern Blues - WUP Red won, CU tied
vs Blazers - WUP Red tied twice, CU lost

WUP Red: 4 wins, 4 ties, 3 losses
                CU: 4 wins, 4 ties, 2 losses

Both teams tuning up close to home this weekend at Needham and Cape Cod tournaments, where they're favored to reach the final.

On paper, looks like a toss-up.

Who are the players to watch in these semifinals?

                        weekend results

WUP Red knocked out of Needham with loss to Lightning. Ouch. Maybe key players missing? Needham looked like an easy tune-up.
CU coasting thru the tournament on Cape Cod as expected.
Blazers in the 2nd division at Potomac and advanced to final. Best win over #56 nationally, but also lost to #69.
Knights in the 1st division at Potomac, recorded 2 ties and a loss.

                              Anecdotal.
This is like using these few hot days as evidence that Global Warming exists. Try to look at the big picture.
The premise of Gotsoccer is a decent one....perhaps better than any other. However, through the years we have seen mistakes by decimal points that they skew everything else. Furthermore, Gotsoccer is based on the success of teams in tournaments and, for state points, league play. The more tournaments you play in the more likely you will get some ranking points.
