State cup seeding posted a couple weeks ago for this age group. Crusaders United are in the Red group with Knights; Blazers put in the Blue group with Seacoast Benfica. Others favored to advance to group play quarterfinals: Abbey Villa in Red and Western United Red in Blue. Anyone know how AC Milan got seeded 6th?

Several teams start 2013 play this weekend: Blazers, Knights, NEFC and Pioneers at Manhattan. Aztec, Bulldogs, Crusaders United, MPS Crusaders, Real Boston and Scorpions at Scorpion.

According to the gotsoccer rankings, Crusaders is the #1 team. Never seen them play, so is this deserving? I thought knights would have it on lock down

Of course it's deserving. A team can't rise to their level without beating some good teams. Still, it would not be surprising for any in the top 5 to beat one another.

and with all the tournaments coming up, that may very well happen several times

Looks like Blazers carried the weekend when about a dozen teams entered pre-season events hosted by Seacoast, Scorpions and Manhattan. Playing in the top of 5 groups at the top tournament, Blazers won all 3 of their matches. They have to be regarded as favorites now off of that performance.
Those that did OK are Crusaders United (wins vs Bulldogs and Scorpions), WUP Red and Knights (both 1-1-1 in 2nd group at Manhattan), WUP White (undefeated in lowest Manhattan group), Aztec (win + 2 draws), MPS Crusaders (2 wins), AC Milan (a bad loss, but 2 draws), FC Mass. (win and draw after loss to Seacoast Benfica) and Bulldogs (beat Scorpions).
Teams that had a hard time include NEFC (best result a draw in Manhattan's bottom group), Seacoast Benfica (losses to Bayside and Seacoast NH), Scorpions (3 losses, but trying to punch above their weight) and Real Boston (loss + 2 draws).
Among contenders, Abbey Villa may not have played, but they go to Annandale this coming weekend.

Where did Seacoast Benfica play last weekend. Is this a region 1 team or a combo of the two clubs available players ?

They played at Seacoast's "showcase" in Epping, as did AC Milan and FC Mass among a total of 8 teams in this age group. This would be a Region 1 Northeast League (not Premier League) team. The impression from reading the Seacoast-Benfica merger announcement is that the merger was done so that Benfica could avail itself of NE Premiership play, rather than to combine players into new teams, but creating new teams is possible, too.

Crusaders United are playing Jefferson Cup and NEFC tourneys, but Blazers aren't. Blazers are playing Region 1 Northeast League, Crusaders United aren't. Blazers are in Black bracket of State Cup, Crusaders United are in Red. Their only matchup may be in maple league play (schedules still not posted), plus possibly State Cup semis or final.

Crusaders United should do well at Jefferson. They're in the second group, and all opponents are ranked below them.

Where did some of the knights top players go? They were not rostered in NY last weekend?
                                DAP?
