The moment scouts stop showing to champions cup, it's over. GA is very expensive and travel heavy. They need the justification of comparable scout access to survive.

Smart parents will make the move this winter to ecnl and never look back.

Dumb parents will stay as NB waves about the utterly useless GA ID clinic incentive. Yes, another expensive trip where absolutely no usynt scouts are available. And you only have to put a few extra thousand in his pocket.

That NE Surf Team was DPL just last spring. Shocking result.

NE Surf had a good team last year.
Scorpions had a weak team last year and lots of turnover between seasons.
If NE Surf won, it wouldn't be a surprising result at all.

Real question is, if this keeps up does NE Surf get into ECNL proper for next year?

Surf is a far superior program in every aspect. Look most of the NEFC team are former Surf players and despite this NE Surf remains competitive. However, they will not get ECNL. There would be far too many teams in close proximity to one another if that happened. Surf, SSS, & Scorps are all relatively close.

No. One year with 1-2 decent teams is not promotion material. Several more well rounded, longer tenured clubs ahead of them. Better geographical coverage too.

Of course Surf had multiple good players. Their multiple regions cover the entire eastern part of the state. There is a convenient team for nearly every community. They are inheriting talented kids by zip code not development. Each and every kid that moved on would have been good at any club. Surf’s only magic sauce is quantity.

It’s pretty shocking. Weak team? Turnover? Real question is, how low can the bar go?

Sounds like Surf Dad is writing excuses for the Scorps now.

We played NEFC GA twice and RI Surf this past weekend. NEFC is another level but we played them hard. They’ve added a GK and a defender since last year and either cut a couple or they didn’t show. Will be hard to beat them.

No offense Seacoast parent, but any decent team is another level compared to you and RI Surf. It is highly probable that neither club will have a single team over .500 this year.

Highly probable? Seacoast 2011s went 11-6-3 in league play last year, including a win over Select in the spring season. They’ll be just fine in the GA.

RI Surf is just coming together as a team, I expect they’ll get stronger as the season goes on and certainly finish top half.

Neither one is realistically going to challenge NEFC Red for the conference title, but I think both have a realistic shot at making the playoffs.

Surf will only secure ECNL status if their 2014 to 2011 teams remain strong and successful. They need to keep these teams performing at a high level for the next two to three years. The 2012s have taken a hit, and it's uncertain how long the 2013s and 2011s can continue to compete.

Ideally, ECNL should consider replacing Scorpions due to their lack of success over the years — they have become an easy club to beat. ecnl will obviously look to expand at some point, money money money bro

How man teams has ECNL removed due to performance? Any?

Scorpions has good teams at some levels, bad teams at others. You can’t tell me that they are the only horrible club out there.
