SSS 1-1-1 in Champions cup. So much for “flagship” title. SSS pops are very quiet now. NEFC will overtake them

Congrats to both NEFC and Select on a good showing at the national stage!

I blame the bad soccer mentioned above on the coaching from the top down. Owner and husband very talented players but they do not focus on 2nd teams. Focus is on the top team in each age group, GA. So the club lacks depth as the second teams are placed with third teams in player pools with random coaches. The 2nd and 3rd teams are often razzle dazzled by traveling to far away tournaments, and sold on the latest league but then the training is weak as it’s a player pool of 30 plus kids. If a GA player isn’t a starter they are at risk of losing their spot and dropping down to the player pool with poor training. At least at NEFC they drop down to DPL, and Stars and Scorpions the drop down is to ECNL regional which many players enjoy. Select has priorities messed up. Focusing on your top teams only is not a sustainable business plan. I don’t blame players for leaving. Being part of GA is not enough especially when GA is a step down from ECNL.

All teams bring in talent from elsewhere. It's how this works as better players go through a funnel into the higher leagues. Maybe a massive club with 4+ ulittle teams can whittle

Ooops hit the wrong key....can whittle it down to one A team by HS but there will still be great outside players that team will take. No club no matter how good the coaching can take every ulittle player and develop all of them into top A level talent. Some kids just won't ever be good enough because of genetics, work ethic or both. They either get cut or drop out. Some great players drop out for other sports also. Consolidation is necessary for top teams. It doesn't mean a club doesn't develop players.
Now once that A team is formed a club still has to develop them. 13-14 year olds are anything but a finished product. Some clubs fail here. They consolidate but put in little effort. They rest their laurels on having the patch players want.
