Tryout season and the nerves over which teams will make Champions League next year has caused more anxiety than is normal for kids of this age. Of course, these are special kids, not your average 3 year olds, so they can handle the additional pressure. Parents, on the other hand, notsomuch it appears. Those who were once friends have taken to talking behind each other's back. Negative Yelp reviews about the clubs sponsored by child care centers have skyrocketed. Playtime has become anything but. Such is the world we live in, but I know it will all pay off for some once official offers come through (emphasis on 'official' since right now, only conversations are being held and nothing firm can be offered for another dozen years +).

So, with this month's installment of the 2020 Girls* Power Rankings, here goes:

    1) Stars Blue - They maintain the top spot for now. Rumors of a turn in the roster for next year continue to swirl the sidelines, but if you get confused just listen to the music play. The division of parents discussing the need to get better, while others remain quiet with a RBF, is near constant. However, it hasn't affected the play on the field as players seem niave to the goings on in the backroom. All they do is play. Recently one kid, li'l Bonnie Lee, started dressing in all 'Carolina Blue' and the scuttlebutt is her mom was recently seen leaving Anson Dorrence's gated community through a side entrance late one evening. The sideline chickens had a good cackle over that. Claims of them not developing and only poaching players will continue to reign down from the smaller clubs nearby.

    2) Gymboree Saugus - Let me just say, what a win they had! It appears the two players who handed in their transfer request suddenly came down with the sniffles, and have been kept away. However, instead of going into a shell the remaining children took it out on Tiger Moms in a Battle Royale. The little kittens never saw what was coming. In the timbers of Fennario, the wolves are running round with their high press and fearless play that caused a meltdown on kittens back line. GS showed no mercy, either, continuing to swarm well into the second half and were up easily by double-figures before the dogs were called off. It was, to be clear, a complete massacre and their is a worry this will bleed into next year's play. As the SUVs lined up outside the door, one of the moms, Delia, was heard joyfully singing as she drove down Singapore St, and the song that woman sung, was "Look out for Gymboree!" The song that Delia sung, was "Look out for Gymboree!!"

    3) Lil Kickers - Credit to them, they play no particular way but their own. Not flashy, stout defensively. Their regimented 4-1 alignment with three at the back, a holding mid, and one strong attacker who specializes in hold up play isn't pretty, but it gets them wins. They prefer to let the other team have the ball, as most games their possession stats hover below 30%. However, they normally outshoot opponents by a 3-1 ratio. Taken from the school of Jose Mourinho, they just line up the biggest, most well-fed kids across that back line and nothing comes through. Win it? Go forward with intent.

    4) Rainbowland Day Care - Much of the same from them throughout the year: Press all over the pitch, swarm the ball and pressure everywhere. Most 3-year olds can't handle so much frenzied energy and they will eventually break down, turning to a dribbling puddle of tears as the Rains' are gonna come, surely looks like Rain. We'll see if their decision to move to GA2 pays off.

    5) Little Lambs and Country Jams - One of the kids lost his boots in transit, babe, a pile of smoking leather. Nailed a retread to his feet, and prayed for better weather. It seemed to work, as she played with a passion unseen before today. The lunchpal regiment from the rural areas of the state don't get the attention the big city kids do, but they just compete.

Dropping out: Tiger Moms. There has to be some real soul-searching for this team. When it's going well, it's going really well. However, in the thick of the evening when the dealing got rough, it all goes haywire. They are going to need to find a way to fight through the tough times or I fear for their future. Maybe a drop back into the Impact league is better for them now? Just a thought

With the news that FC Napoli moving disbanding and moving their coaches all to FC Spiders, it's causing some mayhem around the playtime activities. Seems the Napoli players were promised spots on the team, and have moved right in and the existing Spiders aren't all to happy with the development. This is one to watch going forward. Napoli doesn't have the best reputation with their coaches, and playing in the Serie Z gives the parents an inflated ego of just how good these kiddos are. Spiders have always been on the cusp of making the "List", but with the introduction of the Napoli players this will go one way or the other, and fast. This is one to watch come fall.

This is so dumb. Potty training is going to level the playing field and all of these lists will be obsolete. You U-baby parents just won’t get it until it happens to you. Get back to us when things get serious at U6.

Disagree. With some infants you can just tell they have “it”. I’ll trust the college scouts on this one

If I wear my RDC T shirt on the sidelines, will that make me "one of those parents?" I'm also confused about where I'm supposed to watch the game. The last time I tried to watch from near the end to watch my kid score all those goals, one of the TigerMoms told me to go back my "own side." But when I stood at midfield I was called a "gossip". Guess it doesn't matter where I stand, I can tell my kid to "boot it" from anywhere.

Depends. During the winter in the basements or gyms the sounds echo so you really can be anywhere. Boot it is so last year, we go with "Send it" now. It sounds more authentic.

                Were you wearing a hat? That's a no-no.

Summertime activity remains high for some teams. You can tell the players from the pretenders if kids are missing trainings for horsie camp, or swim lessons or trips to the beach. It shows on the pitch, that's for sure.

                    1) Stars Blue. The raid on the other programs seems to have ceased, I assume because they got what they needed. That leaves a half-dozen parents crawling back to their old club trying to make nice, all the while selling the virtue of just how good that old club is and they really wanted to be there anyway. Likely the only club sporting a full roster throughout the summer, they remain unchallenged since the end of school.
                    2) Gymboree Saugus. They are pushing to get into GA, since it's the best pathway available to them to make the coveted middle school rosters. It will be difficult to coordinate nap times on the long rides to upstate NY, however, so we'll see how this plays out come late fall. Nothing like an 8-hour car ride with a cranky toddler to get your mind on the game.
                    3) Lil Kickers. Fresh off an impressive run in the G league playoffs, they took home the awards by winning the National title. For their efforts, they were awarded a plastic medal and a package of gummie worms. Most lost the medals before leaving the podium but devoured the gummies on-site.
                    4) Little Lambs and Country Jams. Still making due in the lower divisions. A couple of kids, reportedly, are so good they are already drawing eyes from schools and are lining up pre-reads already. At least, that's what mom says.
                    5) Aztecs. Honestly, haven't seen them play. Nobody has, but my inbox gets overwhelmed with their complaints I'm adding them in the hope I can get them to quiet down a bit.

Look, we're almost through the entire fall season. Can someone please catch me up on how my Rainbowland Day Care kids are doing? I have been biting my fingernails since they were left off the early summer rankings. What happened to them? Did their boys director go to Surf and their girls director go to IFA? Or maybe they are just more concerned with focusing on technical training and playing out of the back instead of playing direct and piling up those wins? Or maybe they never found a landing spot when NEFC wouldn't let them into PremieDPL when GA2 never got off the ground?

Could use an update on the Rainbowland Day Care cartel. Heard a rumor that most of them were held back and are going to be trapped kindergarteners still playing on the pug nets when the rest of the team moves to 7v7. Change to SY from BY could have a big impact on them.
