R teams are simply the old NPL league rebranded under the ECNL umbrella (not every region had that set up under NPL but now it's consistent across all clubs). It's the league's B teams. Most of the players are B league players, so eliminating R teams won't really help improve the level of play in ECNLO.
Is ECNL watered down? Perhaps, not really, who knows. The landscape is watered down overall with too many leagues and not enough talent. ECNL didn't introduce GDA/GAL, GDA did. ECNL/R didn't introduce EDP, EDP did. Each league is battling it out for talent and supremacy. The good thing for the consumer is they have lots of options. The bad thing for consumers is it's hard to read the landscape and figure out where your kid belongs.
09's NEFC > 09's Select
08's Select > 08's NEFC
07's NEFC > 07's Select
06's Select > 06's NEFC
05's Select > 06's NEFC
My calculations is 3-2 in favor of Select. You are just trying to stir the pot. Know what you are talking about before commenting. Every year Select is just as good as NEFC. Tired of reading how great NEFC is and how Select can't compete with them.

Looks up definition of Monopoly, looks at market choices in MA for youth soccer, takes a breath before declaring poster the village idiot of TS, and asks nicely...
Would you explain why monopoly applies to this situation?

Who cares? Neither NEFC or SSS will ever get into the ECNL. No matter how good the teams are. So enjoy being in the JV league.

This whole thread was about Stars White and Scorpions being crap. Stars White 2010 is very strong. Stronger than its blue and stronger than teams that are older. Scorpions was lower level but they are gaining RI top players and Southern MA. The whole NEFC vs Select drama should stay on its own thread as the two will both be the same as they are competing in the same league, same pathway, same outcome. They each have years they have dominated but to say they aren’t the same is ridiculous. And agreed Stars owner will never let other MA teams in ECNL.

Been around soccer long enough to know that there is about 80 plus strong players at each birth year able to be on an ECNL team. Of the 80 a 1/4 make ECNL team or choose to make the trek to Lancaster or for practices so that gives you about 60 or so solid players a year that end up on other teams spread out. Blue can only take so many you are right. The others could definitely roster a few more ECNL teams if we had more ECNL clubs around the state, NEFC and Select would be a great option but looks like Stars afraid of that.

Only one per age. Stars Blue. Cannot count Scorpions as quality not there. Can’t count white as top players won’t play on the white B team.

My opinions about the coach are mine alone and surely not going to post them on this place.
