A merger may sound ludicrous w Bayside but would give the two clubs merged depth and the girls side would be able to get ECNL which would be smarter than going for GA with Mendon so close.
    Did they win this weekend?

And you'd have to cut half the kids from the merged top team. You think parents would put up with that and stay? Fantasy.

Sorry to scare you NEFC dads. No they would not cut half the kids. ECNL team would have a roster of 16-18 top girls.
The second team could play Impact.
If they still have girls they play in NECSL. Easy.
Parents would be happy knowing there is a pathway. Yes they would support it.

There is a pathway. It just means you go to where someone existing is. That's how it's done for most of the players anywhere. A typical GA or ECNL roster has players on it from Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Eastern/Western/Central Mass, Rhode Island. Not every club in every state has a pathway - you go as far as your club can take you and then you move to the next bigger one if that's what you are looking for.

Parents want this. And both of those clubs want it. Do you really think parents enjoy having their kids teams fall apart little by little by age 14? Do you really think that RI parents enjoy driving to CT and Lancaster, or Taunton MA for practices? They don't. We need a real pathway. The boys side at Bayside has a couple, it's time for the girls. Bring along the Surf teams and we have a real shot. Plus I am sure many of the RI families who left to go to Stars, Scorpions, CFC, would come back. It's time. And you know it.

The driving parents do to be part of a good club with ECNL path (Stars) is insane. Some don't mind. But it is insane and these days financially crippling. Too bad NEFC didn't get ECNL, this would be a non-issue. But they don't so I am routing for Surf or Bayside or both.

A parent will want their kid on a second team, when they're currently playing on a top team? You're insane.

It's really simple addition. 18 girls on the top Bayside team. 18 girls on the top Surf team. When you merge, you only have one team with 18 girls. Not 36.

Oh you poor thing you don’t get it. If the top team for either club is ELITE 64 or Impact, etc, the parents, us being one would be happy that the better players of those teams now move up to ECNL within the club for sure. The second and third teams can be elite 64 or impact or whatever, we really wouldn’t care and yep we would support it!!!! We know that our “top” teams aren’t getting a chance to really be top teams if we can’t play at national level so our top teams play orger clubs second or third teams We are competitive people and we want the opportunity to put our teams in the national ECNL level for more opportunities for our girls to play D1 soccer. RI girls should have this opportunity and we welcome a merger, a shuffle of teams etc to get us there.

                    Are you naive or stupid?

Players on the second team don't move up. ECRL players don't get ECNL. DPL players don't get GA.

                        from the 64 press release
                        • A minimum of 14 league games over a 10-month season, with a schedule created to aid a player’s periodization and involvement in high school soccer.
                        • The Elite 64 Finals and Showcase. All teams attend, and top regular season finishers compete in championship brackets, with winners in select age groups advancing to the USYS Champions Cup.
                        • Up to three national showcases taking place alongside National League P.R.O. — creating a cannot-miss scouting opportunity with the top club-based and team-based national competition. Showcase games do not count toward league standings and teams play top-level competition from outside of their Elite 64 groups.
                        • The ability to advance to the USYS Champions Cup, where Elite 64 Finals winners in the 14U-17U age groups can compete for an international title against other domestic and international champions.
                        • The option to play in the USYS National Championship Series via entry into their respective USYS State Cup.
No ECNL or GAL player is participating that on top of their regular teams. In fact ECNL, GAL and MLS banned teams from participating. It's B, C teams from some (mostly) good clubs, but it's not their top talent or teams. Nothing wrong with that. But something that doesn't require so much travel (and cost) is just as good an option for players at that level.

If bayside and or Surf apply for ECNL license and ECRL licenses for girls side, how long does that take to happen? Lots of good 2010-2012 girls coming up.

This is false as a blanket statement because I have seen two kids move up. Not many sure, but some do.
