They girls are from Liverpool, Bayside, NEFC. Those of us who went through that circus with that clown coach from NEFC watched him visit games from Bayside and recruit those girls. He took his NEFC team, and then went after about half of the Liverpool girls too. Then he created an A team and B team. Players kept getting shuffled around. People were mad. He’s recruit and drop and recruit and drop. This one coach gave RI Surf such a bad name. Players went running to Scorpions and back to NEFC new teams. Others regretted leaving Bayside. It was a mess and the club struggles still in terms of trust from families and so on with the girls side. They have a few good players but nobody trusts them.

Which coach is this? Hope that you can share with those of us parents who might be looking at Surf RI as an option.

Come on we don’t say coaches names here. If you are looking at a club do your research and ask those questions on the sidelines while watching games in your kids age bracket

Probably because there are a lot of Mass teams playing the RI clubs weekly

Probably doesn't want to name the coach because he's full of **** anyways and made up the story.

Sorry not familiar with that group, but don’t let anyone fool you they post names here but do it with initials. Ri surf just posted their coaching staff for next year also, best of luck to you

and unlike the ecnl where there is no loyalty to any girl and they will cut anyone for the bright shiny object from other clubs. . surf actually seems to develop players themselves and move them up organically and there is decent amount of movement from royal to sky to navy etc (3-2-1)
We've seen several of the boys top team in different age groups and agree that the they are very competitive. They definitely are not "kickball" teams. The Sky and Royal teams seem to drop off and are definitely nowhere near ECNL, except for maybe the very bottom ones. But overall the programs seem to be doing well.

I can't speak for every age group, boys and girls, but perhaps it's because some of those "crappy RI" teams are dominating their MA competition?

The Surf team was fantastic, playing the ball from the back with lots of composure... their GK didn't punt the ball a single time even when our team applied high pressure. They moved the ball super quick all with purpose, not just kicking it forward randomly.

So, not sure about the win now mentality, but in terms of quality, at least this one team was phenomenal.

It's because there are many elite RI players playing on top MA teams. You can't use the state border as any meaningful divide.

Take a look at this 2020 thread which seems to have been started as a reaction to the news of Surf taking over.
