We are looking to join an IMPACT team this fall. Can someone give information on current standings, and feedback on the league. Is it higher level of competition or same as NPL? Which clubs have better IMPACT teams? Do they travel outside MA? New England? I know this is a new league. We aren’t ready for ECNL or GA.

How old is your kid? At the younger ages, definitely look for quality coaching, regardless of league. Also-you mentioned ECNL and GA. I would caution you against looking at Impact as a springboard to one of those leagues. Especially if you go to a club that has Impact teams below GA/ECNL. Kids don’t climb the ladder from impact at clubs like Select or Stars. It doesn’t happen.

Most games are in MA but you might get to CT or RI as well. Finals for winner in CO. Ask club if they participate in any out of state tournaments otherwise.
As for quality, clubs that put top team in will likely have a higher quality than those who don’t. If you’re thinking ECNL in the future, don’t play Stars Impact. That would be a huge leap.

So you can’t get on ECNL after proving your self through Impact, NPL, ECRL, etc, please tell me how does an athlete get picked for ECNL? Attending tryouts? I doubt it? From within the club on lower teams, no. From being recruited? Who’s recruiting 13 year olds and from where? All players come from somewhere. So crazy you think a kid can’t get good enough playing on Impact to move up to ECNL or GA.

Where do clubs recruit? From outside their club. So here’s a hint: if your kid isn’t ready for ECNL, go find the best Impact team you can. Then move to ECNL.

First, ECNL is not the only pathway or golden ticket to D1, there is GA. Second Stars is not the only club with ECNL there is Scorpions. Last telling parents their kid will not make the Stars ECNL teams from within could cause parents to avoid putting their kid at Stars until they go to ECNL tryouts later. Which means Stars would not have younger developmental teams which fund the older. When I hear this I wonder who spreads these false rumors? Because on one hand you want your daughter to swoop in and take a spot on ECNL in her teen years but then in the next breath you discredit the coaching and development of the younger kids teams. What’s your angle?

No coach is going to disrupt their team for a non-starting player. This goes for players currently at the club and outsiders.
- Play a position that the higher level team currently needs and be at least as good as the bench players on the roster AND come from outside the club. There's a good chance the player will be replaced after the current season if they don't improve to match starting player level of play.
- Play a position that the higher level team currently needs and they can't find someone from outside the club to add to the roster.
So how does your player get onto an ECNL/GA roster and stay there? See bullet point #1 above.

Sorry, editing my last to include...."So how does your player get onto an ECNL/GA roster and stay there? See bullet point #1 above. If she is then contact the club and ask to attend some practices; don't wait for official tryouts"

Not discrediting any coaching at any level. Not discrediting the players. I’m saying realistically speaking it is very unlikely that at Stars, an Impact player is being promoted past the ECRL teams and onto the national teams from within the club. You can be mad. Doesn’t make it less true.
Impact is new but go ask the current U15 Blue team for a show of hands for how many of them were on the FIFTH level team 2 or 3 seasons ago.

I'll add that you should try to understand the style of play. I've seen plenty of successful kick and run athletes show up at an ECNL/GA practice and be lost. That and the speed of play are the two biggest barriers to move up, other than the new money angle.
