DIII programs are less consistent in reporting box scores. Another place to look is the NCAA Soccer web page and look at the box scores there for DIII games. Again the reporting there is hit or miss. Last, but not least, GameTracker on schools' websites also provide minutes played under Player Statistics ( I think that's the header?)

      2013 D3 Players starting a lot

This time I'm going to use more categories as the regular season ends.

      Player/Games/GP/GS/G/A School

      EJ/19/19/19/4/3 Brandeis*
      SF/17/16/16/7/5 Ithaca
      TA/21/20/20/10/7 Kenyon*
      GC/15/14/14/5/2 Middlebury
      CS/14/13/11/6/4 Trinity
      PB/18/18/18/3/2 W&L
      MF/17/16/15/8/0 WPI
      MD/16/13/9/4/2 Bowdoin

The first eight started a lot a lit it up a lot.

      KA/20/14/10/0/1 Babson
      MR/16/12/12/1/3 East Ct State*
      SC/21/20/19/0/1 Kenyon
      ED/19/19/15/3/0 Salve Regina
      SA/19/19/17/0/3 Salve Regina
      NM/20/16/14/0/4 Skidmore
      DQ/14/11/9/-/- Trinity
      MK/17/16/15/0/1 Union
      WP/17/17/17/1/3 Ursinus
      ZC/17/16/14/0/0 WPI
      JM/14/11/8/0/0 Colby
      MT/19/19/13/0/0 Springfield

The next 12 started more than 50% of the time. The next category will be subbing in a lot, which a lot of Freshman do. So of the 79 MA freshman, about 20 started a lot. The * means they are in the NCAA tourney.

        2013 D3 Players subbing a lot

Coaches tend to try out Freshman a lot. This is a list of those who played in more than 50% of the games.

        Player/Games/GP/GS/G/A School

        JS/18/14/8/0/1 Clark
        WC/17/15/1/2/0 Haverford
        CL/20/19/1/0/1 Babson
        ZV/19/15/0/3/2 Brandeis *
        BF/14/11/1/0/0 Colby
        PS/15/12/1/1/2 Middlebury
        TD/15/11/0/0/0 Middlebury
        AD/15/9/0/2/1 Middlebury
        ZR/19/10/2/-/- Springfield
        TG/19/18/7/0/0 Springfield
        MD/19/19/4/0/1 Springfield
        DP/19/15/2/0/0 Springfield
        NM/15/12/0/2/1 Tufts
        PG/17/15/2/2/1 Williams *
        AH/17/13/0/0/1 WPI
        NP/17/17/0/1/0 WPI

So seventeen are subbing a lot, and the * means an NCAA tourney team. So overall about 50% of MA players who rostered as Freshman are playing a lot. Next is playing a little.

Most of these kids will not be playing soccer next year. Once the players mature and realize that there other things in life besides soccer, they will quit playing college soccer. They will get sick of the countless practices, the demanding coach, not playing significant minutes, the early bus rides, weekends away from campus, away from their girlfriends, difficulty keeping their grades up and having their summer break cut short for pre-season. So, they opt out and it starts all over again with incoming recruits.

OP here. Yeah some will, that's natural to happen, but we are here talking soccer and let's celebrate those who still do. Quite a commitment to make. That first list of 8 put in close to 50 goals this year, and a few kids are playing in the NCAA's. Memories for a lifetime. I'll be looking at the D1's next week as their season closes up.

You mean they are going to mature and realize that there is more to life than a soccer ball? Who is going to tell their parents?

Wow, good luck to them when they get a job and have to face those pressures. I guess they will just quit. Are you for real?

I get it. Your kid got cut and your spin is that he is now "mature" and pursuing other things.
