    The question was raised specifically to get a response to illustrate, as you have, does playing college soccer really matter in the grand plan of life? The "real answer"--not really. You play a sport because you enjoy to play the sport. You use your athletic talents, along with your academic talents, to perhaps gain admission into the college of your choice. Playing in college for any amount of time is a tremendous achiemement whether it is D1, D2 or D3, thus congratulations to all who attempt to play in college, just remember college is for the education and more importance should be placed on the classroom not the pitch.

        well unfortunately college sports, including soccer, at the D1 level, really precludes taking full advantage of the opportunities for learning that are available in college - too many practices - AM and PM, too many off-season practices and games too. Depending on the school and program, athletes make a lot of academic decisions based on the demands of the sport. It's a trade-off. No question - sports are often a great experience. But when the end of Fall senior year rolls around, then what?

              A solid program that will be unlikely to win its conference any time soon, but I know several kids who play there and they seem to be positive about their experience.

                They've had a wonderful experience they can share with family, team mates and friends for the rest of their lives.

                          I don't remember bershire kids either getting this much recognition.

                          Amount of players to NE is more than normal...?Quid Pro quo..

                          more players to Prov, UNH and suprise Holy Cross..

                          Umass lowell is making the jump to Div 1 so they will be looking for players, great engineering school..

                          Brandies coach stayed local it seems....

                          No colby or SNHU so far....

                              OP here. Going back on Div1

                              2010 = 15 players

                              2011 = 12 players

                              2012 = 30 players

                              2013 = 31 players

                              Seems like a jump the past 2 seasons. Teams like NE/HC/Prov with DAP affiliations seem to be loading up on local talent a little more. So far though one "constant" seems to be that only about 10 MA Div 1 players/year really get a lot of PT. We'll see if that changes as 2012 becomes sophomores and 2013 gets their shot.
                              Div2 and 3 are harder to get on the list. This year looks no different.
                              But as always, great job to all the kids.

                                WA ,Bershire school and other are essentially PGs...I am not sure if they were included in past lists...are schools moving to having more kids do a PG year?
