Plenty college coaches could care less if your coming from ECNL or GA they are the same. Coach just wants the better player. Just because your on ECNL doesn’t mean your the better player. Coaches know that not all good players can live near a. Luv that is ECNL or GA. Kids are doing much more of their own recruiting too they aren’t waiting to be discovered at an ECNL iD. Good players get picked up and ECNL and GA are just leagues and yes they are the same. ECNL marketing scheme, if your not with us you won’t play on a good college team. Such marketing and parents fall for it out of fear their child will lose out. It’s the oldest trick. Make something hard to get and everyone will have to run out and get it. Of course you can get recruited outside of ECNL. It will be easier with GAL because coach attendance at their events is still very strong. Outside of that it gets a lot tougher. ECNL and GAL opens that first door and after that it's up to you to sell yourself. Since plenty of players in both leagues are simply good not great players, having that open door can really help. So can a coach recommendation from a reputable club. Most ECNL rosters will see the entire roster receuited, then fewer each level down the ladder. The level of programs will vary as you move from top ECNL and GAL rosters to bottom. PDA>FSA. NEFC>OW.Comment

Not the poster. In general as overall leagues that's true but locally its highly variable. There's some fuzzy overlap, not a clear cut delineation. A few GAL clubs can definitely compete in ECNL. Some basement dwelling ECNL clubs are terrible and don't belong. A few ECLR teams could compete against GAL teams, same with some top EDP teams.Originally posted by Guest View Post

Exactly. Would you rather play for Stars White or FSA with the special league patch or NEFC or SSS from the GA. I can tell you college coaches and YNT coaches were in Florida watching GA games. Not the poster but I would think some would leap at the chance but some would not. If you're likely to get creamed most times in ECNL it's probably best to stay at the B level. A club like Empire? Not quite that simple…probably age group dependent. I’m a GA parent that would prefer the volume of consistent games in ECNL. That said, we are really happy with the development, coaching, distance, teammates, and opportunity that we currently experience. We wouldn’t switch unless something drastically changed, and we definitely wouldn’t switch to play for white or Scorps.
