Impact group leaving DPL just did a disservice to all the kids in all those clubs…same teams again and again. They should have just gone back to be NPL in NEPinstead now teams are NPL on the girls side but are fake NPL? why impact NPL and NPL? Desperate NEP?
DPL, Impact, NPL are all the same, just different names. Same level no matter how much you want to fool yourself into thinking that one is superior to another.

Juventus will be next MA club in the GAL if the application is accepted. Wonder how NEFC & SSS feel about another seat at the table?

Yup. Your mileage will vary by location with some clubs and teams better than others

The problem is with the GAL it’s a 2nd division League in looking at the big picture to the ECNL. With that said it will be hard to find a string club that could compete in the GAL. These league expansions are about the money so they will eventually find another team in the Massachusetts area to put in the league. A lot of these club teams and money hungry owners have really destroyed the youth platforms across the country.

The top quartile of GAL clubs would have no issue in ECNL - and don't forget there's lots of poor ECNL clubs out there too. However, that leaves 3/4 that cannot. GAL can do absolutely fine as a B league and should simply embrace it as such rather than trying to be something it isn't. Essentially it's the old NPL before GDA came a long and many of the clubs were in NPL before.

Speaking from the college coach side, the GA is definitely better stronger soccer then an NPL level but across the country the level of play is definitely lower then the ECNL as a whole. From a recruitment perspective this doesn’t prevent colleges from pursuing talent in the GA as we are looking for individual players and what they can bring to a college program vs the overall talent or winning records of a club. Soccer IQ, first touch and identifying an easy option outlet on the field are important.

Agreed the coach exposure is better in part because it's a stronger national league than NPL ever was. But looking at levels and where ECNL and GAL players wind up it's starting to really separate between the two.

Like I said GAL can do well as a strong B league and has some A level teams and players. That will keep coaches coming, just like they did before. Simple math shows ECNL can't fill all the posts out there, just like in pre GDA days.

Anxiously awaiting the next round of GA additions. Bet 2-3 more clubs coming to the New England division.

GA adding 2-3 teams in NE would be the worst decision that league could make. Maybe one. And even then, it should be a club that is at the level of NEFC and Select. I’m not sure there is a club around here that fits that description. If GA adds 3 more in New England, they should just call the league NEP.

Well they already added 1 in SDA to the division to pair with Empire for that trip to western NY.

ECNL has 3 MA teams and 2 CT teams. Between MA, NH & CT the GAL only has 4, so one or two more are certainly possible.

SDA is a good add. They are a much stronger club than Empire, so that’s a win for GA (especially given the blowback about travel to Empire when they added them last year).

If you are looking to add 2-3 in addition to SDA, who would you suggest? If you’re NEFC, what clubs nearby will give you quality games? Bayside? No. Aztec? Maybe in a couple of age groups? Surf? Meh.

Alley Cats in Albany and Juventus in MA.

Yankee in Ct, Aztec (or Bolts)in Ma, Alley Cat in Albany. Not great choices but most clubs worth anything are already affiliated. Hope you pick up a club with good development and keep players. That said… I wouldn’t advocate for expansion, just watering down more of league thats already pretty thin
