It all depends where you live and how far are you willing to travel. A general geographical location goes a long long way. If you're down near Weymoth/Hingham go with Select.

Almost look at it like the so called soccer pyramid - the higher on the pyramid the greater the cost and travel. Within each grouping on the pyramid the costs aren't all that different,so once you've targeted a level focus more on the best coaching and fit within that level.

This is definitely true. Too bad that cost does not correlate highly to team quality .... so many teams in those top levels of the pyramid are trash. Be careful where you spend your money.

Ok but Select tends to practice aroun 4? So if you're coming from an area that requires you to travel down Rt 128 (say past Canton) then you're probably not going to make practice in time. Certinly geographical location can matter. I wish we lived down near the Weymouth area. There are more options than other areas in the State. But I agree with what you're saying. Just trying to help the OP with a recomendation.

Trying to figure out where the OP lives where all of these would be in consideration. Bayside?

              Calling kids teams trash… classy.

Sorry if the truth hurts, but there are a lot of clubs with premier prices and rec training .... even at the top of the pyramid. Want to make youth soccer just a big, Walmart-style business, all about collecting checks from consumers then be prepared for criticism.

The players are not trash. Lots of potential and talent.

But bad coaching and parents that don't know better combine to create a team that is awful.

Pretty sure the comment is aimed at the coaching. Alot of the coaching the players receive is not aimed at development.

Development happens in training, in games, and at home. Some clubs offer solid training in practices but when it comes to the game, only top players get minutes. That’s one thing to watch out for. But as a parent know that development also takes place at home with backyard touches, eating well, sleeping well.

                        Juventus
                        $4k + 400.00 uniform + tech fee $250.00
                        3 Tournaments
                        NECSL-EDS-EDP

Tech fees?!?! So ridiculous that whatever this fee covers can not be included in the $4k tuition. Maybe the tech fee should be a line item of "Supplemental fee to fund IFA/MLS"

I dont disagree that each individual has to put in a lot of extra effort on their own, but if it is the most important part, then why pay clubs and trainers exorbitant amounts for not doing a good job? And, for those finding success because of their own hard work (and tons of private training), I find it disgusting that so many useless coaches take credit for said player while offering them little or no benefit whatsoever despite being their primary trainer!

Coaches/clubs teach tactics. Kids, on their own develop technically.

As far as trainers, why pay anyone for any job if they are not doing a good job. Find a better trainer.

Wow. You have no clue what you're talking about. Zero.

At a young age, clubs and coaches focus 100% on technique. There should be zero tactical involvement.

If you think otherwise, you're either a really bad coach or a really clueless parent.

While it's frowned upon to say, lets' face it, some of the players are trash too
