    NEP U10 Question

With the new NEP U9 and U10 format of two games on only four Sundays this fall, I was wondering if some of the clubs arrange "friendly matches" on some of the off Sundays? We are new to NEP, and seems strange to have a weekend without soccer games this lovely fall weekend.

My son's coach has set up the teams so my son will play a game each week. The NEP players when they do not have games will also play in MAPLE as there is a club pass system between NEP and MAPLE this year. Combining NEP, MAPLE and tournaments my son will get to play in 21 games this fall, which is great for his development. At first I was unsure because he would not be playing with his teammates each week in MAPLE, but when the coach explained the logic and player development philosophy I could not agree more with his decision.

What? So, now parents will be paying to play on two teams? Or, is this one team playing in two leagues... Are the NEP players taking playing time away from kids playing in MAPLE and/or vice versa? Now, we are combing "leagues"? If so, what's the point of NEP again? What a joke... Either that or I am not understanding what's going on here. If you are paying to play on a team at U10, shouldn't you be getting enough training / playing time needed for proper development? Really, we have to supplement at U10 on "premier" teams?! I imagine I am missing something... please explain. :)

I agree, and I am not positive that the other response is correct about playing for other club teams and going between leagues. The way I read the info about the "Club Pass" is that it allows players within a specific club to move to different teams and possibly up age groups, within that club.

        See your interpretation of it.

Also - I don't see anything on the Maple site about any "Club Pass".
I am pretty sure it is NEP specific.

Maple bylaws do not allow a player to be rostered on a nep team and a maple team

I think your coach is wrong

Maple states that a player cannot play Maple if he or she is on an NEP roster.

              Nefc u10

NEFC Metro North United U10 plays intra squad matches on the off Sundays. Great practice time along with a structured game atmosphere

Back on topic, if we could? What do some of the other U10 NEP teams do on off weekends?
